Do you buy "new" non-wrapped games?

Went to EB today and bought Midway Arcade Treasures 2 and there was only one in stock but it wasn't behind the glass counter. It had no wrappings on it.

The game was still new and the booklet had been untouched but I don't like the price stickers on it. When I peeled it off it was still sticky.

I wonder why doesn't EB wrap up all their new games and put a security tag on it.

I'm sure there's been times where somebody has returned a game and they will put it on the shelf and say it's brand new.

The EB Games here in Wilmington will open one copy of every game they get in, just incase someone wants to see it on one of their display consoles in the store. This doesn't bother me much...it WOULD be nice if they offered you a "Used Copy" price for the game, however. But I've never had trouble with any games I've bought like this.

I won't do it. I am too anal about my game being completely scratch free. Any time I have ever bought an non-wrapped game, it had scratches on it. It is also crap for EB or Gamestop to say its new because any time the factory seal/wrapping is taken off, it is considered used by any store's electronics dept.

It's ridiculous that they do that. They tried to do it with me once and I wouldn't take it. Once you open that shrink wrap and break the seal it is no longer new. They should of sold that game to you for a used price.

If I have to buy a unwrapped game, I make them show me the game to see if it is scratch free if I don't feel like going anyplace else that day. However, I prefer to buy them still wrapped

Ask any store manager if they would rather keep them wraped or open them and they'll say "wraped" but they have no choice since they are told to have X amount of copies on the new release wall and one copy in the regualr bin where the games are. The company won't supplly stores with enough blank cases and photo copies of new games to put them on the shelves... plus you have to look at it one other way.... it's an eaiser way to say "we don't have any copies left" when you don't have any cases since not everyone would always bethinking to take the photo copied cases off the wall... then when you have it on the wall, but not in stock you do get some A-Hole customers that go off on a rant of "false advertising" "we want your district manager" etc.

From other standpoint - the games are still techincally new since they haven't been played, but I see the point of if they are open they are not new. Most of the workers that put the games in the protective sleves do a good job, but like it was said above, just ask to see the game and see if any scratcers are on it.
