I read, today that animals range from poor to pristine before you even kill them, so I guess sometimes it won't even matter how you do it. You hold R1 to study them and it tells the quality of the animal. If the animal is in the distance, break out the binoculars and you can study them with those, too.

Edit: I mean, obviously you could make things WORSE by using like a shotgun on a smaller animal, but you get what I saying. Lol! A clean kill doesn't GUARANTEE a pristine pelt if it wasn't pristine to begin with.

Just riding along to a destination and was going over a covered bridge when out of nowhere 3 O'Driscoll boys stopped me and ordered me off my horse. Let's just say I'm the one who left the bridge alive after they ate 3 bullets to the skull.

There sure are a lot of those boys.

You have to earn fast travel. It’s there.

I totally forgot in RDR 1 that you unlock the abilities in dead eye as you progress. I thought they had just changed it for RDR 2 or something.

Anyone else a compass user here? Wish the game had a bit more options geared towards the playstyle. I'm doing a side quest where I'm searching for a man near Flat Iron Lake.

What I have to do now is either use the d-pad to bring up the temporary mini-map and see where that mission is in relation to me or I pause the game and find the lake and it's position relative to me. Both of those options ruin immersion a little bit. Pausing the game gives away the area I need to go.

What I would love to have an option of is a handheld map in the satchel that you can take out and look at. It could be done regionally, be bought in stores, you name it. This map is made lime a map from the period, it labels areas like the lake, shows roads, towns, all of what you'd expect. It does not do anything more like show the user's position or where missions are. This would allow a compass user like me to pull my map out and see where Flat Iron Lake is. See where I am if I am able to read the map and/or navigate with a map and then go to the lake and physically search for this man based off of the description I got from the photo and quest giver.

Instead, I already know where he is relative to the lake and don't have to do much exploring outside of figuring out what roads to take to the lake since I am not using a GPS route to magically guide me.

Just stopping in to say this game is amazing. I was totally overwhelmed by the learning curve and unfamiliarity of my surroundings but things are starting to settle in and normalize. I just dropped off a bounty in Valentine and had a moment where I stopped in my tracks and just took in the world around me. It's crazy.

Also, is there anyone else who resists the temptation of visiting the entire map from the get-go? I really like the idea of familiarizing myself really well with one particular part of the map (usually the one the story's most currently based out of) before slowly branching out (again, usually alongside the storyline). From the sound of it, there's a chance I might end up in St. Denis on accident at some point but in the meantime, I like knowing there's something pretty epic out there waiting for me.

Yeah, I had that happen to me, too. I had too much money on me to just let them rob me. 😏

Yes. 100%. Compass tells you to little and the other hud is too much.

The game told me I had to dispose of the bodies so lawmen don't trace them back to me. Thankfully I was by the big body of water and took the time to carry them into there. The problem was the third one was on top of the coach, which apparently I can't ride myself, but I also couldn't take him off with an interaction prompt... however, using the lasso did work in pulling him off.

As I brought him to the body of water, one of the other two corpses washed up back to shore. I proceeded to bring him out deeper. Last I checked, they're still there. Amazing that the game restores their status from time and distance away for quite a bit!

Their coach also had a lockbox that I can't pick yet. Need to have a tool for that. Guess I gotta start strolling into towns to see what's available soon enough.

Just shoot the lock off the lockbox.
