The new GTA has gotten my excited about gaming again. The game is fun, deep, and all in all a 'tight' (syn. Fresh, Good, A Blast) game. The biggest part of GTA for me is figuring things out, learning the map, where certain cars are, etc. Its just fun. But also, when you play through again you come across a crap load of things you missed the first time or can do better to improve your status in the game.
But for a first week release, I am seeing a ton of strategy guides, tip books, survival handbooks and features on most of the gaming sites (IGN, Gamespot, Game Informer etc). Its like Geez, can we enjoy the game somewhat before you tell us how to beat it! I purposely stayed offline this weekend, due to the overload of gaming info on GTA.
One of the things that made GTA III attractive in the first place was figuring things out. For instance for a long time, no one believed you could fly the Dodo. Then months down the line, some developed a strategy that sparked everyones interest in the game again (even for those that had completed the missions version). People wanted to know if they could fly across the water, or start a police riot and take off in the plane. Today, GTA 3 is still one of the most popular boards on Gamefaqs.com.
Now it seems sites are trying to boost traffice by putting any little GTA tip, trip, or cheat. I wish they would chill for a minute and let us get into the game. At least on this site, people do take the time to label their threads with the *Spoiler* tag. I appreciate that guys. But for a while, I think I will stay away from the major sites. I dont want to spoil my $50 investment in week.
