100% Failure - My Random Journey (Rocksmith 2014 Remastered)

    Game: Rocksmith 2014 Remastered
    Platform: PC

    What's up guys!

Since my favorite non-sports game to play is Rocksmith 2014 Remastered, I thought it would be fun to document my journey through the ups and downs of learning random songs on the guitar.

My ultimate goal is learn songs completely and earn a 100% in game.

This is definitely not the normal type of "dynasty" thread you would expect to see on Operation Sports, but I think that will help this become a fun change of pace.

I will use all of the songs that were included in the game, some DLC, and a lot of custom DLC created by other Rocksmith users.

Initially, I think one song a week should be attainable. The fun part is the song will picked at random! I can't just pick songs that I know I can play well. What fun would that be? This will help me become a better guitarist and help me learn new songs that I normally would never play.

Also, I think showing you my first attempt at the song on Monday's, an update on Wednesday's, and my final attempt on Friday's will be good way to show my progress.

If there is enough interest in this, starting with the second week, I would like YOU to select the week's song!

Week 1 will begin Monday, November 7th.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned to see what the first song will be!

Hey this is great! This is one of my favorite games as well. I already knew how to play guitar, but I'm using this game to move into advanced territory. Cheers!

            Week #1 - Song Announcement

Going into this, I knew by randomly selecting songs, my comfort zone would be destroyed. Was it ever.......

Some background: I've been playing guitar for close to 20 years. That sounds ridiculous when I compare that to my current skill level. I feel I'm decent and would consider myself more of a rhythm guitarist than lead. This whole project is about getting better.

Out of the 2600 songs I have in the game, each of them usually have a lead, rhythm, and alternate lead/rhythm part. Luckily, there is a way in game to randomly select a song/part.

Using the Nonstop Play section of the game, I told the game I wanted to play 90 minutes worth of music. I also told the game to pick songs from my entire library to include all tunings, different parts (lead, rhythm, etc..), and to shuffle the results.

After the game created the playlist, this was the first song that appeared:

            Artist: Parkway Drive
            Song: The River
            Album: Atlas (2012)

            Song Part: Lead
            Tuning: Drop B

            Reaction:

I'm very surprised this came up!

Parkway Drive is one of my favorite bands. I've have tried to play this song in the past, but I've struggled mightily with the intro.

I'm very excited to try and learn the lead part and hope this will be a fun experience for you guys too.

Again, if you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know.

            Thanks for following along!

I'm not playing anything below drop D until I get my 7 string fixed(needs a new nut) otherwise I'd learn this along with you and post progress.

                I completely understand man.

I'm lucky that I have three 6 string guitars and one 7 string to help with all of the tunings.

                ESP Sunburst - E Standard, Drop D, E# Standard, and Drop C#

                ESP Autumn - D Standard, Drop C

                Ibanez RG - C# Standard, Drop B, C Standard, and Drop A#

                Ibanez RG 7 String - B standard, Drop A, and A Standard

Really appreciate you following and your input.

Maybe next week, I'll make sure to make the song E Standard or Drop D, so you can follow along.

This game is currently on sale on the PS4. In the description it says just plug any real guitar or bass with a 1/4 inch jack directly into your PS4. My question is how do you plug in? There is no 1/4 inch plug in on the PS4.
                  Thanks

you need to buy either a jack to hdmi or maybe an adapter of some kind to convert 1/4 to hdmi - the patch chord Rocksmith comes with is 1/4 to hdmi
