What's some good RPGs for Xbox one?
Looking for a good RPG to get into in between playing my usual sports games. I never play anything but sports games but I do like a good RPG from time to time. And I hate final fantasy. I just got a new ps4 since my last one broke but I'm playing the show 16 on that.Tags: None -

The Witcher 3 Collection. You don't need any other RPG. 'nough said.
Thread Closed.
SpoilerJust kidding on the closed thread part, but not about the Witcher 3. Honestly just about the best RPG ever made.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

The Witcher III Complete Edition by far......seriously, after playing just the base game, every other RPG that has come before it will be crap in comparison not because those other RPG's are bad but because CRPR is just on another level. Future RPG's better go back to their drawing board because what EA and Bethesda currently do simply isn't going to cut it anymore.Comment

DAI gets my vote despite too many fetch quests. It also depends on how much combat is important to you. I'm not a "true" RPG guy and I need combat to be fun. so I found Skyrim disappointing since it feels old and dated with weak combat. I thought W3 combat was repetitive too. Looking forward to Mass Effect Andromeda. Shadow of Mordor isn't a true rpg but tons of fun.Comment

Re: What's some good RPGs for Xbox one?
I loved the combat in The Witcher III. Seriously, there is nothing more satisfying than chopping an enemy's head off and watching it roll down a hill thanks to the wind blowing. LOL. In terms of mechanics, the combat only has one problem - the locked stance during combat. This is what causes the majority of complaints. Eliminate this and it's superior to pretty much every WRPG and nowadays every JRPG as well.
Never played Skyrim but it's Bethesda and I didn't like Fallout 4 and those two franchises need a total makeover because they can't keep developing them in a "vacuum". Plus, while they can be played in third person, both are truly meant to be played in first person. In Fallout 4, you can clearly feel which perspective is better and meant for the game to be played in.
FFXV was meh to me after seven or so hours. Just blah. Granted, im NOT a fan of Final Fantasy, never was and never will be. To be perfectly honest, I wish the fantasy would become final already. Dragon Quest XI is going to crush FFXV by far. With that said, the history of FF is good but has declined since VIII. Based on what my friends have played, VII, VI (III in NA) and IV (II in NA) are the best in the entire franchise.
Combat wise, it just didn't grab me at all. And I hate the warping. Seriously, am I playing a grounded JRPG or a sci-fi RPG? To me, going from The Witcher III to FFXV is like going from PS4 to TurboGrafx or some crap. Just no. Good for you if you're enjoying it but not for me. Visuals are the only thing that stood out to me.
YES, YES, YES!! I highly recommend Child of Light. What an excellent 2D turn based plat-forming RPG. Gameplay is ******* excellent!!!Comment

Re: What's some good RPGs for Xbox one?
Purists may scoff because it's not a "pure" RPG, but The Division has become one hell of an adventure-action shooter/RPG since patch 1.4.
The Division might be the perfect gateway drug to RPG's for you.
I play sports games and shooters almost exclusively but was intrigued by RPG's. So I started playing Dragon Age: Inquisition on EA Access. It was fun and interesting, but I just don't buy in much to fantasy, medieval and Middle Earth worlds and storylines.
So then I tried The Division, and everything clicked. The combat is traditional gun-based FPS action, but the world remains completely open, with loot drops, crafting, character choice/building and character interactions just like a traditional RPG.
The Division is a fantastic game, my Game of the Year for 2016. Give it a go if you're hesitant about fantasy worlds and want something more gritty and familiar in an RPG if you're a shooter fan. You can find The Division new or used for $20 or less. I got a pristine used copy from Gamefly for $13.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment
