    Re: 2017 Gaming Plans

Right now Persona 5 and MLB The Show '17 are my only certain, confirmed purchases (and Persona's been delayed so many times I'm not even considering that a guarantee). NHL has gotten back on my good side but I still don't know if I want it every year.

Since none of those will be out before April I should have a lot of time to clear the backlog. I'll probably be hitting Hitman and Fallout 4 hard, finish up Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne, and several others.

Agree in regards to the backlog. That's why all past gens are just well, done. LOL. Current gen only for me. The art style in Zelda is great. Just wish they would go realistic for a change. My prediction for Spider Man is May 2018.

GRW can be played co-op with up to three friends/partners or as a lone wolf with your three teammates being AI partners. Game is supposed to have over 100 missions and is said to be completely playable from beginning to end solo. Since im a single player only gamers, GRW wouldn't be on my list if I couldn't play through it 100% solo.

            Re: 2017 Gaming Plans

            Playing now:

            Madden 17
            Shadowrun Dragonfall-Director's Cut
Draft Day Sports Pro Basketball 17
Draft Day Sports College Basketball 16

            Stone cold locks for 2017:

Tyranny- old school RPG by Obsidian, came out in November, but I'm going to wait until a price drop since the game is relatively short(25-40 hours) for this kind of RPG.

Torment: Tides of Numenera- Successor to the greatest game of all time. Nuff Said.

Mass Effect: Andromeda - Another no brainer RPG purchase.

Divinity: Original Sin 2- I was embarrassingly late to the party with the first DOS game, won't be caught slippin again.

The Golf Club 2-The first one came out of nowhere to become one of my favorite games ever.

Madden 18- Absolutely love 17 despite some of the tuning missteps, expect 18 to be even better.

            On the Fence

NBA 2K18- No longer a pre order game, no longer a day one purchase game, and if a lot of the gameplay issues that have been a problem for the last 3 games aren't fixed, no longer a game purchased at all.

Super Mega Baseball 2 - Been a long time since I played a baseball game for any length of time. Can this be the one to bring me back in? Gotta wait on the reviews of early adopters to see if a good sim game can be tuned out of this one.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands- Another game where I have to wait and see how the early purchasing solo player campaign players feel about it.

                Re: 2017 Gaming Plans

As with all of us, I have a huge backlog. And I doubt I will ever get through it. I have realized that I like to try games and figure out the mechanics but finishing campaigns is not something I ever do much ( I think the last campaign I finished was BF3's).

I get huge value out of sports games, and decent mileage out of strategy games. Even with the latter, big scale games like Civ I rarely see the end of a particular save file.

A couple other things: I enjoyed the hell out of Overwatch but I traded it in and I'm glad. I'm basically done with online play and for sure online shooters. And I find I spend more of my gaming time watching streams and youTube videos than I ever would have thought I would.

So, with all that cliched background,

                Currently playing:
NBA2k16 (thanks, ps Plus), play now mode, I stink at this game
FIFA 17, GM career with Union Berlin on a difficulty above my skill level, trying to get promoted to first league by year two
Steep, fun game but oddly overwhelming, it feels TOO big
Bioshock Infinite (thanks ps Plus) fun game that I haven't touched since before Christmas...am I still playing it?
                Rocksmith 14...back at this
The Talos Principle...thanks, Steam Winter Sale. Like this title a lot so far

                Intentions:
Will check out Horizon once its price drops
May give RDR another look, I didn't love it when it was shiny and new but I've learned to appreciate the game engine via GTA4
It looks like I will be moving in with someone who has a XB One, so Forza Horizon 3 FOR SURE if/when that happens
This is probably The Show's year for me, but on the other hand I may just play 15 some more or buy 16 cheap.
I will be skipping Madden and Fifa. I might get NHL at some points (see comments on The Show)

PS Plus is hit or miss but gives some gems from time to time.

For anyone with The Witcher 3 in their backlog, take it out and get on that immediately! You won't regret it. I never thought that any game would be able to knock Red Dead Redemption from my "best ever" perch, but then it happened. Love it so much! Speaking of RDR, if part 2 manages to be released this year, that will be a no-brainer for me and I have South Park: The Fractured, But Whole coming in March. Other than that, the new FIFA and maaaybe Madden this year.

                          Re: 2017 Gaming Plans

Just had our 2nd child, he is 2 months so won't be gaming as much. I have made the decision to not buy any new games but instead wait for "game of the year" or "complete" editions when they go on sale.

                          On-going games:
                          Hearthstone
                          Super Mario Maker
Fifa 17, mainly will play online with a friend
                          Diablo 3 occasionally

                          Plan to play this year:
                          Witcher 3 Complete Edition
                          Firewatch
                          Doom

2017 Games I will likely buy based on reviews/impressions:
                          Horizon Zero Dawn
South Park: The Fractured But Whole
                          God of War
                          Mass Effect: Andromeda
                          Red Dead Redemption 2

Will need to see more details on the Switch, but its unlikely I'll buy it this year.

I really need to focus on playing through the backlog of games that I have now and not purchase anything new, but that isn't going to happen.

                            2017 Purchase Plan

                            * MLB '17 The Show
                            * God of War
                            * Nintendo Switch Console
                            * Launch Titles for Nintendo Switch
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

                            Louisville Cardinals/St.Louis Cardinals

For like the first time ever I am not planning to buy a sports game. I will restart gamefly and rent a few at some point to satisfy my craving, but I just don't find it worth it to buy them any more since I lose interest. NCAA football or College Hoops would be the only thing that I might buy, but it's extremely doubtful that they come out again.

The only things I could see myself buying right now are Ghost Recon, Horizon Zero Dawn, and RDR2 (if it releases this year). RDR is the only game I will buy no matter what right now.
I couldn't possibly agree more with this. Took the words right out of my brain. Especially w/ regard to college sports games. About the only rock-solid guarantee I had on a yearly basis used to be College Hoops 2k and NCAA football. Without those games, my interest in sports gaming has gone down to nil.

                                Currently Playing:

Halo: The Master Chief Collection - with multiplayer finally working I've put in quite the man hours into this one lately
Halo 5 - can you tell I'm a Halo fan?
Draft Day Sports College Football 17 - two online leagues take up a lot of my free time when it comes to recruiting and game planning

                                Backlog:

Skyrim (PC) - have had the game for probably five years now and haven't really given it the time it deserves
Witcher III (XBONE) - bought this game on sale for $20 before Christmas 2015. I played it for two hours in the summer of 2016 but, like Skyrim, didn't give it the time it deserves. These two games I'll hold on to and eventually get to play in the future because they are RPG classics.

                                Currently Programming:

Age of Empires 2 (text version) - I'm learning how to program on the side and potentially looking to make it my new career so in my free time I'm programming an AoE2 text game.

                                Future Games:

                                Resident Evil 7 (maybe?)

I've basically given up on playing sports games like Madden or NBA 2k. I just don't have the time to sit down and pound out seasons like I used to so instead I play text sims like DDS:College Football 17 or DDS:Pro Basketball in online leagues. Much more enjoyment managing the teams rather than utilizing stick skills.
