Re: GreedFall
One of the first games I played on the PS4 was Bound by Flames from Spiders, the devs who are doing this game. Their CGI is good. However, their game wasn't. The combat, story, characters, and graphics were all "meh". Since its a 2018 title, here's hoping for improvements and lessons learned for what looks like an interesting IP.Comment

Re: GreedFall
Picked it up a little while ago after work. For $30 including GCU and a $10 gift card for pre-ordering, I figured that it's worth a chance. It's gotten pretty good reviews thus far and my favorite and only site I go by which is GamingBolt rated it an 8.0/10 so im looking forward to playing it later tonight or tomorrow. Either way, I have the next five days to play.

It's a must play for me, but I'm going to wait until it eventually makes it to Game Pass.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: GreedFall
Completed GreedFall a few weeks ago on normal (I suggest playing on hard) in 83 hours with 95% overall completion. Missed a few documents in the world.
The biggest strength is the story, characters, writing, dialogue and nearly all the quests. It's all extremely well done. Voice acting is very good and adds to it all. Visuals are solid and while it's not a Witcher 3, it does look great and I had zero complaints. Music is good but tracks do repeat. Gameplay wise, it's the weakest aspect of the game but it's not bad. It's clunky and has what majority will refer to as "eurojank" but overall, it's actually fun and enjoyable.
Your companions repeat their lines during every battle which is annoying but after a while, you learn to tune it out. Also, enemy variation isn't as much as it should be in a game this big.
Game world wise, it's not open world but not linear either. It's region/map/area based I guess you could say. Think something like Rise/Shadow of the Tomb Raider but bigger and more expansive.
The second biggest positive of GreedFall after all the story, quests, etc. stuff is in regards to the skill tree, talents and attributes. Holy crap!!! You will have to make decisions and choices in regards to what kind of build you want your character to be. Whether you go in a melee build, magic build or traps build, you're not maxing out anything so be prepared to decide on what type of character you want to play as.
I will admit that not being able to max out my abilities, skills and talents is very frustrating and annoying but yet, shows the brilliance of it all because unlike so many RPG's, in GreedFall, your choices and decisions do matter. Despite my frustration as I like to max out everything, it's freaking awesome because knowing that you can't just increases the drama in regards to how you build your character.
Add in the companions who have a bonus for you the player if they becomes friends with you. Then there's bonuses on armor and whatnot which will affect how you play. Have 175 armor but a second armor that's 150 but has +1 in lock picking? Oh man. You have to decide what's best for your play style.
Seriously, I could go on and on but best for those of you who are currently playing the game or will do so to experience it for yourself. For me, GreedFall was a great 8.5/10 overall and I see it as the AA version of The Witcher III or at the very least, the closest you're going to get.
My biggest complaint and negative in the game - the lack of a mini-map. There's a compass but jeez, you will be pausing the game to bring up the region map a lot. If Spiders develops a sequel or possible prequel as has been rumored by Spiders themselves, I really hope they include a mini map and eliminate the freaking compass.
One last tidbit which makes this game even more impressive - GreedFall has been said to have been developed by 35 or so people with another 15 or so contractors at the end of development with an extremely low (even by AA standards) $6m U.S. budget which is even more insane. I can only imagine what Spiders could do with a bigger budget and even more development time for next gen.Last edited by peter42O; 10-15-2019, 10:53 PM.Comment

Re: GreedFall
This review paints it as a mediocre old school RPG.

Re: GreedFall
I'm pretty much in the review all review sites because 90% of the time they are ignorant or paid for. I'll say 100% of the time ignore Polygon. They are notorious for giving a game a score like 9.5 and then when the community plays it and calls it bad, they quietly go back and change their review to match what the masses are saying.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: GreedFall
Sometimes I agree with Polygon sometimes I don't, but as an FYI, they don't give out scores anymore, so one has disagree with them on the substance of the review now. I haven't read their review on this game, but it doesn't matter I know that I will enjoy this game when I play it.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: GreedFall
Just got this game, gameplay is fun. Did the first boss fight, that was annoying. In the "New world" now, love the atmosphere but feels like a lot of fetch quests thrown at me currently.PSN: Dalton1985
