Rain World is set in an abandoned industrial environment scourged by a shattered eco-system. Bone-crushing intense rain pounds the surface regularly, making life as we know it almost impossible. The creatures in this world hibernate most of the time, but in the few brief dry periods they go out searching for food.

You are a lonely nomadic slugcat, both predator and prey in this land. You must hunt enough food to survive another cycle of hibernation.

Other - bigger - creatures have the same plan.

Inspired by the aesthetics and simplicity of 16-bit classics, the gameplay consists of platforming and fast paced sneaking; both sneaking on your prey and sneaking in order to avoid larger creatures. A large focus of the development has been on enemy AI: they are cunning, vicious and they are always hunting you.

    • Sneak, climb, and pounce your way through a unique alien landscape of hidden secrets and undiscovered dangers.
    • Nimble controls and physics-based animation gives characters intuitive weight and momentum for lightning quick high-wire action.

    • Intense, primal predator encounters will challenge your reflexes. Limited resources and the constant impending threat of rain will test your nerve. This is not an easy game!
    • Open-ended, sandbox-style narrative lets you make the choices... and deal with the consequences.
    • Co-operative and up to 4 player competitive gameplay: deathmatches, endurance, waves, custom challenges, etc.
    • Currently being developed for PC and Mac.

    Future Plans

We want to present to you a rich, dynamic world brimming with secrets to uncover, engaging narrative choices to be shocked by, and a lush eco-system of interesting creatures to kill and eat (or be eaten by). The vast majority of funding will go towards further development of the nuts and bolts of the game: art assets like level design, new terrain and new characters; expanded AI for terrifyingly intelligent predators; a lengthy well-written single player campaign; more music, more hidden secrets, more Rain World for you to experience.

I copied this post from GAF. This game looks really cool, and is currently discounted for pre-order on PSN.

The Show will be the big prize on Tuesday, but I am really looking forward to this one too.

Reports are the single-player is 15-20 hours and also also has co-op and competitive multi-player.

Love the art style and physics based animation system.

I think the current price is 16 bucks on PSN, and goes back to full 20 bucks after launch

Yes I pre-ordered this two weeks ago. It looks like my type of game.

You and I might be the only ones! lol

Some blurps about the game from people reviewing it right now...

@RainWorldGame is one of the very few games—I feel—where all progress is in the player's head. All challenge is really player inexperience.
I will say, @RainWorldGame is really, really brutal. It’s like a Herzog documentary about cute animals surrounded by predators.
I just screamed the most honest ''ooooh ****!'' of my life while playing this game.
Im so glad I went on this pretty much blind
Rain World is probably one of the tensest, most stressful games I've played in ages. It's awesome!
I just started playing this today and as others have said or shown via vids, this game is bonkers in the best possible way. It's almost deceptively simple in how it's laid out, but there are deeper elements which are waiting to be accessed through experimentation within the world.
Animation, colour palette, soundtrack, and enemy behaviour all combine to make @RainWorldGame utterly terrifying
so @RainWorldGame is ****ing amazing! i love the look and feel of the game, also Slugcat is the best animal!

        This game is brutal.

I like that it has very little hand holding. There are some very very basic instructions like, "you can eat these things." "You should stay away from these things."

"Okay, good luck surviving lol. We aren't going to explain anything else."

And then you try to be slick and you die.

I read one review that made me appreciate this game even more. Honestly blown away by what they've done here.

Only played about 30 min but excited to dive in some more.

I made it a third day without dying. Have gone a bit deeper into the world.

Was on my way back to a new area. Headed into a tunnel and was immediately met by a lizard. Dead.

There's always tension in this game.

I feel like this is gonna be one of those games that gets a lot of play from a big flash sale, or a free PSN game of the month down the line, and a lot of people are gonna be like "wow where did this game come from?"

                  It's really good
