StarCraft Remastered / Anthology 1.18 Patch announced

StarCraft: Remastered upgrades the essential sci-fi strategy experience—the entire original game and its award-winning expansion, StarCraft: Brood War—from beginning to end.

So, this kinda came out of nowhere. Blizzard's remastering the original Starcraft/Brood War, which is to say they're upgrading the visuals to up to 4K + audio without messing with the gameplay. They're aiming for summer on the release.

What's more (and this is even more fascinating), they've also announced a patch 1.18 to the 19-year-old Brood War client to bring it up to current Battle.net standards. It will apparently allow the classic and remastered versions to play against one another.

    AND.....

It will make the original Anthology package (Starcraft and Brood War) FREE. I assume it'll just be freely downloadable through the B.net client when that happens.

This patch is supposed to drop on March 30th. I'm not oblivious to the close timing of that, but this doesn't seem like an AFD joke.

Game is still a lot of fun, even today (assuming you could get it to work on a modern system).

Dude thats awesome. There are actually things I like more about SC than I do about SC2. I will be all over this

I still love replaying the awesome SC campaign. I am terrible at multiplayer but still love playing it - looking forward to this.

        PTR Build of 1.18:

Not sure if that means the official patch will be coming later.
