I think I played too much H1. I bought this the day it was available and still only have 2-3 hours in it. I just feel burnt out on this type of game.

Re: Player Unknown's Battlegrounds
Early match you will get into much more mid to close range fights.
Mid match once people are geared, have some longer range scopes like 4x's or 8x's then yes you will see more longer range combat.
Late match, its back to mid & close range fights as the circle shrinks drastically. People will start dropping the long range sights and start putting on red dots & halo sights to match the combat distances.
So a more solid answer is you have all forms of combat during a match, but its not only long range combat.
Here is 3 examples from last night. This all from 1 match but will show the engagements you typically see in a round.
1) I had blinders on here in the beginning, I knock down my own teammate but I then go on a tear and kill a entire team. (My teammate revived me after going down)
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ExsVjE8YlTA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
2) Mid match, we see a crate and move over to intercept. Two separate teams had the same idea & we get into a typical mid range fight.
3) End of match, look at bottom right map to see just how small the circle is. Engagement starts out mid range but starts to close into more close range. We were just out gunned.

Re: Player Unknown's Battlegrounds
This game doesn't seem much more demanding than Arma 3 and I'm struggling to run it on my laptop.
I figured I could run it with some friends, but I may be wrong. It's the first time I've tried gaming since connecting a true 4K monitor that I use for my PS4 Pro. I tried lowering the resolution and playing on a smaller sub screen, but it's still pretty bad.
I really want to play this game. I watch my friends play it and it's hilarious and entertaining at times. I'm restoring my entire laptop to factory, downloading new drivers from NVIDIA and trying again today..
edit: game works well now and I was able to run several rounds with some friends.Last edited by AUChase; 05-20-2017, 01:26 AM.Comment

Phobia (and others!) -- What are your thoughts of the mid-game?
The start of the game and end of the game is super intense but the mid-game is just sitting/waiting around mostly with very limited action.
Do you think they should speed it up?Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: Player Unknown's Battlegrounds
This monthly patch looks really good.
@speedy
I think you have 3 stages of the game and they all function slightly different.
Early game - is your quick die off section. Just like the hunger games when everyone goes for weapons right away you will get in fast intense action. Its also where you have a large kill off which will make the mid game more suspenseful.
Mid game - is your loot up & find better gear section. There needs to be a lull in the action here. This is why mid game getting caught blindly looting happens so often. People get a one tracked mind here trying to gear up and catching people in that down time where they drop their guard is great. Plus this point of the game needs to be slightly slower in my opinion, because finding quality gear is tough already, you speed it up any more & you are limiting people greatly come end game.
End game - low crawling, heart pumping action. This is where the game truly shines in my opinion. I don't know of any game which gets your heart going like the last couple circles in PUB. This is where what you found in the mid game can cost you a win or seal a chicken dinner for you. If you get lucky enough to come out mid game with Lvl 3 vest and Lvl 2> helmet plus some type of assault rifle with a 4x scope, you are set to compete. If you are barely scrapping by in loot and have been chasing the circle all match unable to gear up then you are severely out gunned.
This is part of the beauty of the game also, you can play it how you want. You can fall in Pochinki every time and just go to war right off the bat OR you can fly wayyyyyyy on the outsides and pretend your solid snake stealthing your way through all game. Me personally it changes sometimes I like to get into firefights quick, other times I'm in the mood to try for wins. All in all I'm finding the pacing is perfect, but agree with slowing down the end circles just slightly like they are doing in this latest patch.
Check this out from last night, I missed this guy by inches THEN watch near the end of the clip, he is shooting me through the tree.
Desync or cheating, what do you think?

Re: Player Unknown's Battlegrounds
Finally picked this up today. Managed to get 9th place in my first game without a kill. I tried working the outskirts and hunting for loot but wound up getting sniped in the next to last circle.
Second game I managed 39th but got my first couple kills. I love when a plan works out. The circle was shrinking and someone was caught in it on a motorbike that I saw coming a mile away. I popped down into a bush across the river and waited for him to pass by. As soon as he passed me I popped up and shot him in the head.
This game is definitely addicting, although I'm not very good at it. I love that it's a get in and get out style of game where I don't need a huge chunk of time to finish a match. I can see dumping a lot of hours into this.

Once you learn loot locations and how to time your jump to get where you want to go you spend a lot less time trying to find a good setup.

Re: Player Unknown's Battlegrounds
Just had by far my best game. Felt more accomplished than I did with my 9th place match yesterday where I had 0 kills. There's another guy laying around the corner. I'm pretty sure we killed each other to be honest. I should have had him easy but I'm pretty sure half my shots went into the wall.
So mad at myself too, I should have set up shop in the church up the hill. I took someone out at a supply drop and managed to snag a sniper rifle finally about two minutes prior. I got greedy though and headed toward the gunfire instead of taking cover.Comment
