Re: Starfield
While this does not seem to be the majority of players here. If there are any lurkers who bought an early access edition who haven't been thrilled with what they got out of Starfield then it's possible to get a refund on Steam (even if you are beyond the 2 hour limit for refunds). I'm guessing that this will not be the case when the game officially launches on 9/6 though, so take advantage of it while you can (it has to do with some flexibility with early access I believe).Comment

Re: Starfield
The game has been out for early access since the 1st, tomorrow night at 8pm is the release for those of us that didn't get the early access....I had mentioned that I really had no interest in this game, but after hearing more and more about it and checking out very limited gameplay, I can 100% say I cannot wait till tomorrow night.

Re: Starfield
Trust me this is a game you get lost in a good way. I have spent most of today in this game and loved every minute cannot get enough. I have still yet to build my own ship. Credits are being used for my weapons. Boy do I have weapons. Once you find you nique you will be in a fantasy land. Folk complain about the loading screens they are minimal and only happen in space travel which make it convenient to get weapons and supplies.
Thank you for the info, greatly appreciate itPeople are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.“I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest – If you can’t take it, you shouldn’t play!” Jack Lambert“Quarterbacks should wear dresses.” Jack LambertComment

Re: Starfield
So yeah, you can get sick in this game from the environment. I was on a cold planet, got frostbite and hypothermia. My player was coughing, couldn't breathe, vision got all blurry. Regular med packs wouldn't work. I had to fly back to a city and go to the hospital to get treated for everything for 750 credits. Just like I was on another planet and breathe too much toxic gas, got lung damage. Thank goodness I bought a whole lot of different meds for different things at this point. Made it back to my ship and was able to cure myself. You can also sleep in the game and set how many hours you want to sleep. Sleep cures regular injured health issues.
After doing many main missions and a hand full of sides, I been flying around looking to build an actual decent outpost. I have one so far but for the life of me, I can't remember what planet I put it on LOL. Far as ship upgrades, good lord they are pricey and buying ships is very expensive. I upgrades my shields, grav drive for I can do longer jumps and my weapons. Came across a level 35 ship. 2 shots and my ship exploded, space is dangerous. Still wondering if I should eventually join one of the many factions in the game.Comment

Re: Starfield
He is for real. I had three different status ailments at one time. I fell broke a limb (after using my jetpack and misjudged the landing) fell again limb became dislocated. I ended up dying so was able to reset but in that gunfight again I misjudged another landing to break limb again. Then went to a cold temperature got a cough that my character still has. You can hear him cough and it takes your oxygen level down about 50 percent. Was fighting a creature that almost got the upper hand on me this lead to blisters. This game has it all.Currently playing: (In order of Most Time)

Also a PS5 owner. Purchased an Xbox controller and 6 months of Game Pass. So, I’m going to try and stream this to my TV on launch, using the web browser. See how that goes. Definitely the cheaper option.PS4 | jamiedallaireComment

Re: Starfield
About 12 hours in now and things are really starting to click for me. I streamlined the main story for a little as I heard that was the best thing to do and I’m glad I did because you are rewarded nicely.
Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way I’ve started doing a lot of the side missions given to me or finding ones on my own. Working on the SOL system in particular has been a lot of fun. Found a quick little mining mission on one of Pluto’s moon that took me only a few minutes. I loved how the mining area was all outdoors as well so I was staring at a snowy Pluto off the horizon during the entire mission.
I then headed to Mars which feels completely different from Pluto’s moon. There’s a settlement there, the first one ever outside of Earth, and it really feels that way. It’s very barebones and it feels like you’re still in the 2020’s, in some sort of shelter. You’re also indoors the whole time.
I was able to find some work there and have been really enjoying the journey it’s taking me on. I’m still working my way through the side mission and there’s already been 3 separate parts to it, all with an absurd amount of things to do in each part. Feels almost more thought out then the main story itself.
One cool thing I discovered during this side mission, was that the universe you’re living in is really living and breathing around you. The NPC’s aren’t just robots, they actually have lives. The first part of the side quest I had to hack into a computer but I had to wait for the person to leave their desk. The intel I got was that she likes happy hour quite a bit and leaves every day at 5pm. So my thought was well I don’t really care, I’m just going to go to her computer and I’m sure she won’t be there, even though it was 9:30am. Couldn’t have been more wrong. So I thought to myself I’m sure if I just go and talk to her, there will be some sort of option to get her to leave the room. Wrong again lol. So I decided to just sit and wait for a few minutes. That again did nothing to help me. Finally, I get up and went back to my ship, and slept for 7 hours, until it was 4:45pm. I then headed back to her cubical and she’s still sitting there, chatting it up with her coworker one cubical over. I again sit down and wait to see what happens. 5pm comes and goes, still nothing. Then all of a sudden at 5:16pm she gets up and tells everyone she’s done for the day and is going to happy hour [emoji23]. A minute later her cubical buddy gets up and follows her out.
I know this game is getting some flack, and it definitely won’t be for everyone. But anyone who has played for more than a few hours can absolutely tell just the amount of detail, detection, time and effort went into to making every single part of this game. So yes it may not be for everyone but I think the dev team deserves a lot of credit for the sheer amount of work they put into it.Comment

Re: Starfield
Enjoying my time spent in the game so far on PC Game Pass. I've only made it to the first big city and I'm shocked at how many people there are to talk with. it definitely feels like one of the larger cities Bethesda has ever created. I'm working on doing some quests in the main city before blasting off.
I can see ship building is going to be absolutely crazy and will probably suck in a lot of people.
I'm already struggling with fighting ships in space after using the simulator. I can see that space fighting won't go well for me. Often as I was fighting I wasn't aware how my shields had been destroyed. I feel like I missed a lesson on allocating resource points between shields and missiles. I had to look up some pointers to get a better understanding of the ship systems.
My one complaint is simply the opening. I can't believe they couldn't come up with something better. It's simply no where near as memorable as Skyrim with the dragon blasting the town just before you lose your head or Fallout with the nuclear explosion. Without giving away too much, I didn't find it very dramatic.Last edited by bhurst99; 09-05-2023, 03:09 PM.Comment

Re: Starfield
Okay, I've logged in the hours now to say my piece.
Starfield is a game that shows us just how much thought and detail this team out into this game. They gave just about every single item in this game either a purpose, or you can still pick it up to do SOMETHING with. They gave us a pretty well written story, with some fun dialog. And overall, the mechanics of this game are simply just fun.
I'll be honest with everyone, I still don't see what people are talking about with the tiles. I have explored all over places, and have never ran into a "boundary". I love being able to traverse around the planets, run into stuff I am WAY too under leveled for, and barely get out alive. That has happened way too many times, lol.
Just like in No Man's Sky, I enjoy the scanning aspect and try to 100% planets. They have given us details the more we scan specific species of animals and plants. I love that.
Combat is a interesting. Okay, so the gun combat I do like quite a bit, but it feels stiff. Space combat, I just cannot for the life of me pick up, and I am garbage, but I'll call that a skill issue, lol.
I hate flying in space. It's not fun, controls are weird.
But the biggest thing. Last night I spent 53 minutes simply watching the night sky on one planet. I watched a planet come up over the horizon, watched the stars move/disappear. Watch the cool clouds come and go. It's really simply a beautiful games.
All In all, I can't see how anyone can rate this below a 8.5/10.
As of right now, Bards rating is...
9/10.
Space adventuring and combat is what makes this not a 10/10. Since it's in the game I wish it didn't feel as clunky. If they were just cutscenes, and no space fighting, this game would be a 10/10 due to those not being a "feature"... but they are, so I expected them to be better.
