    Sonic Mania Collector's Edition (PS4/X1/Switch/PC)

Ok...I really thought there was a thread on this already, but I cannot find it.

Anyways, Sonic Mania Collector's Edition just announced a release date of 8/15/2017. Price is $69.99.

    The Collector's Edition includes:

    * Deluxe SEGA Genesis style Collector's Box
    * 12" Classic Sonic Statue featuring SEGA Genesis Base
    * Metallic Collector's Card with Sonic Mania Download Code
    * SEGA Cartridge Cast with Golden Ring

    Anyone else picking this up?

I will be getting for the PS4, but if I by chance have a Switch when it releases, I may pick it up on the Switch.

Yes I've had it pre ordered since back in November or December when it was announced I'll be on ps4 with it.

I can't wait as this game will being back memories I used to play the sonic series alot on Sega Genesis & I got to be so good at it & got towards the end & never really got a chance to complete the game.

Perhaps I'll have a chance this time around really pumped for this series return!!!! Gonna be just like old times!!

Got it on Switch, it's so good. It's such a beautiful throwback to the old Sonic games. Plays great, looks great, and so much fun. For $20, you can't beat it.

I got it on the Switch as well - very happy with this purchase.

I enjoyed watching streams of the sonic games. I will get it eventually when I clear some of my backlog.

I never played the original Sonic games on the Genesis growing up as I was a SNES kid, so I picked it up for $20 on the Switch yesterday. Holy cow! So well done!

I just gotta say the boss battle for Level 2 was so throwback (for other reasons). So awesome!

                Spoiler

This game is very good. I do wish the Insta-Shield was default though, probably because I'm so used to Sonic 3. Awesome that Tails can still fly (and I'm assuming with 2P co-op can pick up Sonic). The "big rings" from Sonic 3 are now in the swirling stars checkpoints, and my there are quite a lot of them! I think they're all old ones, and they're just as hard to perfect as they used to be. Looking forward to playing all of them. The UFO bonus levels aren't quite as fun, but I still look forward to playing them.

Never did play this game to try and do speed runs (unless I'm doing head-to-head racing against somebody like Sonic 2 had), but with the new Time Attack mode I venture I'll give it a shot after I beat the game and get most of the collectibles. I forgot how diverse all of these levels are. You can literally beat each level hundreds of different ways. In some aspects, you think that the developers just did copy-paste jobs from previous Sonic games, but then they have an interesting twist to them that make them different, giving the game various gameplay aspects that previous Sonic games never had.

The only real negative I can say about this game is Dr. Robotnik's music and the star music are not as good this time around. Of course, they managed to keep the "You're drowning!" music the exact same, which always stressed me out and still does to this day haha. Also I still seem to die from those moving staircase platforms in ways that I don't understand how I'm getting smushed. Outside of that, this is just too much fun. Too bad this isn't a Vita cross-play game.

Oh gosh, those platforms are the worst.

For me, it's pretty great to see a successful Sonic game - heck, it was a fan-made Sonic game. I used to be a big fan but that changed for obvious reasons (thanks Sega) so I'm hoping this is a sign of good things to come with this franchise.

Is anyone else's game crashing when attempting to access the Time Attack leaderboards?

Yep ever single time. The game its self is amazing and very hard. I love the twist they put in the old levels that make them fell new but at the same time they don't fell to different. The new levels are awesome to. I have like 3 stages left and I have gotten stuck twice. Flying battery was hard and I died a lot and oil rig the last boss I don't even know how many times I must have died.

Time Attack leaderboards now seem to work after the 1.03 update. Sadly there isn't any filtering for friends and such.

They may have reset as well, meaning if you had any they were likely wiped out of your data.
