Watch the Xbox E3 2017 Press Briefing: Revealing Project Scorpio

The folks at Microsoft are taking the stage in the next few minutes to talk Project Scorpio and other items coming up this year for Xbox fans. The stream is above, we'll update the space below with any highlights throughout the briefing.
    • Project Scorpio now has a name: Xbox One X
    • Specs are impressive and what have been reported already.
    • Xbox One X will play 4K Blu-Rays.
    • All Xbox One accessories and games work with Xbox One X.
    • Supersampling will be included, which is basically the console downsampling 4K textures to 1080p presumably. Helpful for those who don't yet own a 4K TV yet to get some benefit out of the console.
    • Xbox One X will be the smallest Xbox ever in size.
    • The console is scheduled to arrive on November 7, for $499.

Wasn't impressed tbh. Nothing in that briefing really makes me want to get an X1X at $500 this year. Have to wait and see I guess.

I'll be curious to see what kinda sales it produces at 500.

I don't even think Sony needs to do a price drop, but if they dropped the Pro to $349.99 then X1X is gonna be hurting son! [emoji844]

Don't have great service in building so I can't watch video. When you say BC, is this all Xbox games or just a select list? It's a must buy if you say it will play Xbox 360 disc so I can play NCAA Football

Game list hasn't been shown I don't think. Just that some original Xbox games will be playable on Xbox one. The 360 bc I don't think is changing or be different that other Xbox One models.

Looks amazing but for 500, seems a little steap. 500 spent on a computer can get you much more. It seems like Microsoft just wants to make a "computer" to play in the living room. I'm satisfied with my Xbox one. But to spend 500 more dollars on a "beefed" up Xbox just seems a little too much.

You can't really compare this to a gaming PC, IMO. Compare it to the PSPro is a lot more fair comparison It's a more powerful machine and has a UHD drive. That right there makes it worth the extra $150 or whatever it is, compared to a PSPro.

With current prices, I doubt a comparable PC could be build to match the specs of the Xbox one x. Especially if games can hit 4k at 60fps like Forza was stated to do. (Although I doubt many games will be able to do 4k@ 60fps, at least "true" 4k)

On top of that, developers can optimize much more efficiently with not as many variables in gpus like on PC.

I've seen some sites use the specs of Scorpio to build a PC comparible, it usually ended up over $800 without an UHD Blu Ray disc drive.

In the end, the games still need to be properly optimized for the hardware.

If you want to try and compare. I believe the closest PC graphics card would be AMD rx580, although I think the Xbox one x beats it in memory bandwidth by a good margin. 580s price is a bit inflated due to Bitcoin miners though.

I wouldn't compare it to either.
