Anymore impressions about this game? Haven't bought a PC game in forever, but I really liked the original, online reviews are sparse for this game for some reason.

have only played for a bit, but the graphics are incredible. And it still gives off the old c-64 feeling when playing. Think pirates for the 21st century and you will pretty much know what you get.

Hell i have just sailed into towns, havent attacked any ships or or towns yet.

        yet

might go and do that now

i dont see why not. If anything you can turn down some of the graphic options

btw, the fighting is alot more immersive. You have more options to select from and its more interactive. The dancing when you meet the governors daughter is silly, but still kinda cool.

I find myself losing alot less battles than in the original. Which is a good thing.
Your men get upset after a while and you have no choice but to divvy up the gold.

Its so much fun to change the course of events by attacking a ship carrying the new governor of a town.

I am kind of all over the place, but the game is a blast.

Are there multiple game modes to play like Warcraft? Where you can go and play the story mode or you can just set up a game with different settings and play that way? I don't know if I will get the game if it's only the story mode game....

when i started the game, i just got right in. But if its like the old one, you can pick a date in witch to start, and which country you want to start with and i think dificulty. The game plays a completely random story every time you play. Nothing happens quite the same. Some towns are owned by differnt countries, so pirates are attacking other ships, etc etc

Thanks for the quick reply and for the good news. I did not want to get it if I was going to be starting in the same situation each game, glad to hear there are various options to choose from to start out with. Sounds similar to Civilitation(which would make sense seeing as how Sid Mirer makes both) as far as starting options.

this is one of the things that made the original so much fun. News and deeds are totally different. I would look for reviews on the old game or even new reviews for this one, cause they both have the same fundemental gameplay.

But no 2 stories are quite alike.
