    PS2 is scratching...

up my games. I was playin gta and i have a first generation system from 2000 and it had been makin all these weird noises like it was gruntin and grindin. so i finally took out the disc to see if i could blow some canned air in there and looked at my disc and it was scratched up. give me some info on a potential solution short of me kickin the shiznit out of my ps2.

Not a good sign at all. Your laser is most likely out of alignment. When this happens it will leave marks on your disk. However, I would not suggest to open it up unless you never want to trade it in. Most game stores will not take an opened system. EB and Gamestop both still give trade in credit for broken systems so you could trade it in towards the new model PS2.
