If you're having disc-read errors w/ those other discs then just call sony up and they'll fix it for free. The only downside is that it takes a couple weeks for them to do it. Most likely though, your ps2 will have this same problem again in around 6 months even after it's fixed by sony as all they do is clean it. I had to send my playstation in three times (each time was five months apart) and so the third time they just gave me a new ps2.

Thats funny, I just got one of the new PS2 slim's the other day and I love it, I been missing the PS2 for a while now. To bad the xbox is getting pretty dusty right now, with the games that I like coming out for the PS2 and the games that are already out, I'm loving the PS2 all over again, especialy the Slim model. With the next gen systems coming out within the next year, year and a half, I think I going to sell the Xbox on Ebay like I thought I would. I only have time for one system and the PS2 is that system, I have a 2 year old daughter and its bad enough I don't have much time to play as it is, so 2 systems is really not worth it for me at this time.

Thats funny, I just got one of the new PS2 slim's the other day and I love it, I been missing the PS2 for a while now. To bad the xbox is getting pretty dusty right now, with the games that I like coming out for the PS2 and the games that are already out, I'm loving the PS2 all over again, especialy the Slim model. With the next gen systems coming out within the next year, year and a half, I think I going to sell the Xbox on Ebay like I thought I would. I think both systems are wonderful, but I'm actually considering selling my XBOX (now that I'm selling the only two games I have left for the system).

Considering that the games I want for XBOX are coming out for PC, I don't see a reason to have my XBOX anymore (not that there is anything wrong with the system).

The only console game I want in the future is MLB 2006 and that's for PS2. If I end up purchasing MVP it'll be for PC and ESPN has a PS2 version (and I have the harddrive).

Oh, so, yea, if anyone wants an XBOX in great working condition at a reduced price than the refurbished ones with two working controllers (one big, one small) and DVD Playback kit (it's a bit cracked, but it works perfectly fine), hit me up on email because if not, I'm putting it up on ebay soon.

You and me think just a like. I wanted the PS2 for MLB 2006, Metal Gear, GTA SA, Grand Turismo. I really enjoy the PS2 a lot. Like you said A lot of teh Xbox games come out on PC. I don't think I miss it much, Meaning I sold my Xbox on Ebay yesterday. I just $210 dollars for it with one game. I can';t wait to get Metal Gear Solid 3 for christmas from my fiance. I just ordered MGS 2 so I can play that all over agian.

Before you send your PS2 in try this.

Its a option in the main browser. Press Triangle(^) to bring it up. Now press ^ again and switch disc speed to "Fast" and Texture Mapping to "Smooth". It should already be on standard for both options.

Now try to load up your disc and it may not work the first time, but it'll eventually read your disc. I use this method from time to time when I get DDEs. If you ever get a DDE, just tinker around with the disc driver options and it may just work.

But it is'nt guaranteed, just a option. Your PS2 sounds alot like mine. It struggles to open the disc tray and I get alot of DDEs or No Reads when I try any disc. Whther it be DVD, Blue Backed or regular. Also, it cant hurt cleaning the lense with a disc cleaner.

See, I didn't mention Metal Gear or GTA because my bro already purchased those titles. Since he loves those games, I just let him buy them. I'm usually the sports guy.

Even though I'm not a big fan of Metal Gear games (sorry) I do enjoy GTA. I figure I can still play KOTOR II, Pirates!, Half-Life 2, etc. on the PC and not even need an XBOX for it. I'm selling my Madden and Live on ebay right now and after those are gone I'll have no XBOX games left.

But, you say you sold your XBOX for 210 with one game? That's not bad at all. I was thinking of selling mine for no less than 125 with all the things I mentioned.

Don't open up your PS2. Just do what others have said and call up Sony. Tell them you're getting Disc Read Errors and they will fix it for free, you only pay shipping one way. I did that about 2 years ago, and my PS2 has been working great since then. Plus, it only took them a week to fix mine. If you open if up, they won't fix it for free, though.
