Right now, I have to say AC3. I know a lot of people didn't care for it, but I really enjoyed it. It probably helped that the American Revolution is my favorite time period in real life. I'm just getting into Origins (Level 14) and there's a really good chance it takes over the number 1 spot. Love it so far!#LFC

I tend to rate games that come out later higher by default, because I think they normally take what the franchise wanted to do and kept pushing. A lot of people judge more on improvement from the last game, so like AC2 was much better than AC1, 3 was a misstep IMO (the Ezio spinoffs were better than 2 as well to me, it was the same thing, just more polished, I think you'd have a hard time making the argument that 2 is even better than Brotherhood) , then 4 was only slightly better than 2, so it doesn't look as good. Same with Uncharted, people say 2 is better than 3 often because 2 is 100% better than 1 and 3 was only 50% better than 2.
The odd thing is I wasn't really a fan of the naval stuff, never have been. The fact that I like Black Flag at all given that fact gives it a little more energy behind it, it had such an uphill battle with me. The historical Pirates were also some of my favorite characters in the series, Blackbeard for the win.Originally posted by G PericoComment

Black Flag/Origins.
I thought the first couple were a bit boring. I don't think I even finished the first one. AC3 is better than people give it credit for. Same with Unity.Comment

I haven't played Origins which sounds like it may be the best but some recognition is in order for Assassin's Creed Rogue. It had an interesting story (you abandon the Assassins) and tied the overall story from the end of Black Flag to the start of Unity. It had all the great pirate elements from Black Flag. I thought the main character was one of the best in the series.
Most importantly, parts of present day Canada were in it. LOLComment

Origins basically took the best elements of every AC game and put into one game, only a much better and improved version of said elements.Comment

Is Liberation worth playing through?
Origins is the hands down best and I don't even think it's close. There's just not a lot of extra fluff that has plagued this series since the start and continued accumulating.
They really honed in on the best parts of the series and discarded or re-worked the rest. I love Altair and Ezio, but those games didn't take long to get tedious.

Black Flag. I was on a boat that sailed the Caribbean at the time so that game really clicked with me.
