Since the beginning of 2015 I've stuck to a "play one game per month" schedule which has actually worked really well for me in terms of finishing games and minimizing my back log

If the game is very long I might "allocate" an additional month or two like I did with Fallout 4 where I spent 3 straight months finishing the game 100% then 1 month later on for all DLC.

So my planned schedule for 2018 is as follows:

January = LA Noire
February = South Park: Fractured But Whole
March = Okami
April = Far Cry 5
May = Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus
June = ?
July = ?
August = Assassin's Creed Origins
September = Assassin's Creed Origins
October = FIFA 2019
November = NBA 2K19
December = Madden NFL 2019

The first 5 games I've already bought (except Far Cry 5 of course) so I'm definitely playing through them first...installing LA Noire as I type! For the sports games I usually just play a season and/or the story modes.

I've set aside August for AC Origins because I played AC Syndicate last August 2017 so it has become "Assassin's Creed August" for me now but I might need to continue into September in order to finish the game.

The middle 2 months remain unallocated as I'm not sure what other games are coming out early next year yet...but I'm also keen to pick up a Nintendo Switch soon so those could be saved for Super Mario Odyssey

My backlot is so big just beat Knack last night but still have a backlot of like 50 games lol. When it comes to new games coming out in 2018 I am not really sure what I am going to get yet other then the fact I cant wait for Spider-Man on ps4. I am really interested to see what switch does in 2018. I don't know of any games coming out in 2018 yet that I want to get for switch. Really hoping we get a new DK game.

I'm looking forward to 2018 gaming after buying a PS4 Pro and 4K TV in late November. So naturally my most played game at the moment is 2D Pillars of Eternity on an old lap top. Yes, I'm a man of many contradictions. I said I was going to work on my backlog last year and instead I bought a ton of games near the end of the year. My New Year's Resolution is to clear some of the backlog.

Oh man the 2nd half of 2017? Has been my most active gaming period in years.

Currently playing:
-Mario odyssey (finished story but collecting additional power moons)

- Zelda breath of the wild (just got it for Christmas from the wife)

-Steam World Dig (Xbox one, part 1, just picked it up on sale as a cheap way to see if I would be interested in part 2 on the switch)

-LEGO Worlds (Xbox one, bought it for my son the other day and ended up spending 3 hours landscaping and building a house)

-Pokemon Fire Red (Almost finished, never played a Pokémon game before, loving it to my total surprise)

Games I bought but have to get to or get back to:

-Uncharted the Nathan Drake collection(PS4... obviously)

-Tomb Raider Definitive Edition (Xbox One

- The Witcher 3(bought it like a year ago, I swear I’ll finish it one day)

-Mario Kart 8 (Switch, also got it for Christmas, need to spend some more time diving into it)

Mario + Rabbis Kingdom Battle (picked it up over Black Friday. Fun game but with so many games to play it’s gone on the back burner.)

-Horizon Zero Dawn (Kicking myself for not picking it up for $20 over Black Friday, definitely want to get to it)

- Steam World Dig 2 (Switch, keep hearing great things and part 1 is pretty cool. Seems like a good game for on the go with the Switch)

-Stardew Valley (Switch, again I keep hearing it’s a must have on Switch. I’ll pick it up at some point)

-Assassins Creed Origins (Xbox one. Waiting for a good sale)

-Snipperclips (played the demo, had fun, I’ll pick it up at some point)

-Pokemon HeartGold then maybe ultra Sun or Moon)

-Wolfenstein New colossus ( *maybe, not quite sold on it yet)

-Skyrim (Switch if it goes on a good sale like $20)

I’ll most likely pick up a new 4K HDR TV at some point this year. I want to wait til I get this before I pick up AC:Origins and Horizon Zero Dawn.

Wow.... after pretty much a decade of only buying 2k and an occasional PC game, it’s crazy how many games are on my to play list.

I like it. It's like a text sim for a police chief with a story line that actually has some depth.

I got way too many games on my backlog to get anything new except for Red Dead and God of War. Those are in my top 5 series of all time so they are must buys. I’ll hold off and get Red Dead on pc though.

Spider-Man is also probably a buy.

Nothing on my 2018 shopping list yet. Most of my new gaming will come from sales of older titles and playing what I already have.

I have definitely hit the wall on simulation sports games (this includes WWE 2k). The most fun I had with sports games in 2017 came from Super Mega baseball, NBA Playgrounds, and a 2017 roster edition of Super Tecmo Bowl.

Sim sports games are dead to me, with the exception of The Golf Club, The Show (which I a trying to find settings for that will keep me engaged), and possibly a version of NBA 2K for the blacktop mode.
