    Overkill's The Walking Dead (Ps4/XB1/PC)

    Looks like a page out of State of Decay. News on Overkill's The Walking Dead, from the makers of Payday and Storm is scheduled for a Fall release 2018;

    OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead is a four player co-op action FPS, where you and your friends fight the dead as well as the living. Set in The Walking Dead Universe, you and your group tries to survive in a post-apocalyptic Washington D.C.

    Each character has their own Special Abilities, Skill Trees, Squad Roles, Play Styles and Story Arcs, but teamwork is paramount. The action is close-up and intense: take out enemies carefully with silent melee attack or go in guns blazing with your choice of each class firearms. You need to be able to improvise as nothing is certain and a horde of walkers is always right around the corner.

    "We designed the game so that players can jump in and out whenever they want, so they can do one mission, five missions, twenty missions in sessions like fifteen minutes or two hours if they want to. We want to incorporate what we've learned from Payday 2, and fun is our main focus."

      Im hoping this will serve as the closest thing to a Left 4 Dead 3. Looking forward some actual gameplay footage and more details. They should have something at E3.

              As we wait for actual game play footage, I do get a kick out of these cinematic trailers they've put together. Here's their latest character reveal, Grant.

                is this an open world game? Outside of a game of thrones open world game, a walking dead one would be one of my top requests for a game. I hope this one pulls through

                  I believe so. It has many of the same characteristics of the SOD Microsoft release in a couple of weeks. The information given to us so far are;

                  "Overkill's the walking dead is a multiplayer online first person shooter in which you will need to co-operate with your friends to fight your way through an apocalyptic Washington, DC,"

                  "We designed the game so that players can jump in and out whenever they want, so they can do one mission, five missions, twenty missions in sessions like fifteen minutes or two hours if they want to. We want to incorporate what we've learned from Payday 2, and fun is our main focus."

                  "You'll scavenge loot, find other survivors, kill walkers. We're working really hard on the human enemies, and they're not going to make it easy for you to complete missions,"

                  "You'll always receive rewards every time you play, with things like food, weapons, mods, and so on."

                  "There's a human threat as well. There's going to be a lot of really bad guys out there. You're going to be constantly fighting other human survivors while constantly having this threat from walkers as well. We really want to immerse the players in this unique and rich universe that Skybound has created,"

                  "The player camp is the main hub in which players will decide their next step; where to go, what to fight against, etc. Everything you collect you'll use in the camp to create better defenses,"

                  "Also in the camp you will interact with other main characters and meet NPCs, and you'll learn their stories. The characters we've created will be new, and they'll have their own stories, motivations, fears,"

                  "Characters will also have their own skills, abilities and preferred weapons that reflect who they are and their personalities. We're building a class-based system so there are clear rules for players. You'll need to experiment with different characters and skills to find out how to best survive."

                      I'm curious if no friends are available if you play by yourself will the A.I. control the other characters , like Ghost Recon Wildlands? These days I'm much more into single player gaming. I just talk to friends in a party, we are usually all playing different games and just chatting.

                          Well if it's all online only and have to play with others... No Sale.
                          Pretty disappointed if so...

                            I was thinking the same thing Sky but then the devs keep saying they're incorporating many of what made Payday 2 fun so I believe there will be an AI to play against.

                            If I remember correctly, Payday 2 had;
                            - No set linear outcome
                            - Single player game against the AI (however, the poor AI was the game's weakest point) and the 4-multiplayer co-op which was at the heart of the game.

                            Payday 2 released 5 years ago to consoles by Overkill Software and they've been developing this game since. That's a long cycle and we haven't seen any game play yet. They did mention (can't remember where I read it but I'll search it) that they're going to reveal much more during E3 in 3-weeks.
