I'm looking forward to this and Jade Empire. After playing Doom 3, Halo 2, and Ghost Recon 2, I'm ready to shift gears and get into some RPGs.

Re: Kotor 2 review from ign.

I'm gonna check myself here. I don't know if I'll get the game or not. After reading the review and thinking about Sith Lords and the other games on my list, I just don't know if its worth it to get it when its released. If I get it for Christmas, that'll be great, but if not, it won't bother me. I think I'm only getting one or two games for Christmas, and I'll probably buy myself one or two. I'll definitely get the game, but not in December, January, February, or March. I have to think about how I'm going to spend my time with Mercanaries, X-Men Legends (Christmas), Forza Motorsport, Jade Empire, and Star Wars: Battlefront (Christmas).

Unless you plan on playing SW:BF online, the game is pretty much worthless.

I won't stone you Football, but even if you don't have an interest in Star Wars or RPG's in general, it is still a great game (I'm speaking of the first one as I haven't played the second). KOTOR I was the best non-sports game I have ever played. I am a Star Wars fan, but not an RPG fan.

I'd read the IGN review, and probably the first KOTOR review too.

You walk around an environment interacting with NPC characters using dialog trees and minigames. Until you meet an enemy and then it goes into combat. You assign actions to your characters to attack/defend/whatever based on probability of success. Like if your character is weak with guns, you probably should use some other weapon.

PRG video games are basically like interactive movies. The characters and plots of KOTOR are what really made it stand out over other RPGs. It sounds as if KOTOR II is the same. The original KOTOR is like $20 new, I'd pick that up and see if you like it. The game is looooong. Give it several hours to see if you can get into it.
