100% agree about the hollow statement. I don't know what causes that feeling because I don't remember getting it with BC2 or BF3 much, but since then I've gotten it when I can stand to play the releases since.


Grand Operations helps in a way with this. I wonder if after playing Campaign in the Red Orchestra series that I got too used to how each match truly mattered in that game as you were playing an actual campaign online.

Agreed. The game has definitely felt more "casual" and less intense (IMO) every iteration since BC2. Still my preferred AAA FPS, with it's warts.

I'm also with you on the RO subject. After playing a ton of Rising Storm and Post Scriptum and the like, those games are way more hardcore and rewarding. To the point where I'm actually drained and exhausted sometimes after matches.

I try to make it through campaigns at times when I can, but there are times where I'll play a match or two of Rising Storm 2 and then need a break. I had a lot of fun in those matches, but they can drain you and force you to take a breather. I like that about the series, but I don't see BF ever going that direction. The game has blown up going more and more casual and you can't fault them for following the money.

There are plenty of strategy war games that can make you "exhausted" after matches if you want to feel that way. I don't personally but to each his own. I like Battlefield V a lot and will play it often, it is fun, gorgeous, and keeps you coming back for more - like a nice blonde you want to keep dating. I don't have to have a lot of substance in every game I play, I am playing games for FUN.


That said, it is much better than Call Of Duty, I compare that game to the woman you meet at the bar for a one-nighter - not enough substance

There are plenty of strategy war games that can make you "exhausted" after matches if you want to feel that way. I don't personally but to each his own. I like Battlefield V a lot and will play it often, it is fun, gorgeous, and keeps you coming back for more - like a nice blonde you want to keep dating. I don't have to have a lot of substance in every game I play, I am playing games for FUN.

For sure, I wasn't comparing the two styles, nor was I implying BF was trying to be like those games. And I do play those other games when I want to play that style.

It was more along the lines of pointing out the fact that the series has felt like it's gone more towards a standard "deathmatch" style of play, even in Conquest, where before it felt like there was a battle or struggle taking place to get the win. It almost feels like it doesn't even matter if you win or lose the match. I guess that's the hollow feeling I get. Idk, still hard to explain but that's the best I've got on it lol.

All that said I am enjoying the game! It's beautiful, runs extremely well and most importantly, is fun! I just miss that old-school Battlefield feel. But that won't detract me from playing and enjoying.

I'm watching some folks stream this, and it appears to play much more like a twitch-shooter in the vein of COD. Can anyone speak to that?

Truthfully, I didn't play a ton of BF1. BF3 (and slightly less-so BF4) remains my favorite of the series. I don't expect we'll ever get that exact gameplay back, of course, but this looks to be the first Battlefield in the last five iterations I don't buy. I don't doubt it's polished, though.

Any of you have issues with the lighting and shadows in general? I'm not sure what settings to adjust, but it's like the shadows draw distance is literally 10 feet in front of me. It's really noticeable in water or in that map with a bunch of wheat fields. I can see a block or square of shadows pop in as I run around.

How's the framerate for the console versions? I'm usually disappointed as the previous games tend to never be a steady 60 frames which wears on the eyes.

I did see some issues with the shadows, but didn't pay enough attention. They definitely did seem to have a disappointing draw distance to them even playing the game maxed out.

Well I caved and dusted off my Xbox and bought ea access to play this game is AMAZING. The TTK being shorter makes it all worth it. I hate the fort crap. The city maps are great not liking the open ones as much. Man I can't wait till this drops in PS4 I can't stand that Xbox controller
