Does the gameplay feel boring or repetitive at all yet? When i think stealth i think MGS and Splinter Cell which i love, but it just doesn't feel right in TR neither does the bow and arrows. You'd think she'd come packing heat by now, but no...still the same breaking branches and looting. It was cool at first, but just tired of it.

I have a love hate thing with TR and AC games now.

I have become bored at times but that's because of the lower enemy combat encounters. If there was more, I wouldn't get bored. I love the stealth in SOTTR but again, with less enemies, it defeats the point of having those extra stealth options. With that said, when there is an enemy encounter, it's cool covering yourself in mud and being in the vines and taking out an enemy.

I love the bow and arrow even though im mad at myself for upgrading the base one you have and then, I run into a merchant that has a better bow. Yeah, all the resource gathering is kinda overdone as there's 21 different resources but like I said earlier, if you loved ROTTR, Shadow should be the same but if not, then you most likely won't enjoy it. ROTTR for me was an easy 9/10 with the weak spot being the story and characters which also seems to be exactly the same for Shadow.

If by AC you mean Assassin's Creed, I started with Black Flag (loved it), loved Rogue, enjoyed Syndicate and Unity was okay. Loved Origins but like so many games, the story fell off near the end and was rushed. If not for this aspect, ACO would have been my 2017 goty over Horizon but since that didn't happen, Horizon stayed my goty.

I'm super hyped for Odyssey. Already have the Gold Edition and Guide pre-ordered. I'm all in. Funny thing is that going underwater in SOTTR makes me even more excited for Odyssey. LOL.

I didn’t love Rise so I am concerned but am starting my journey tomorrow. Putting Spidey on hold.

To be perfectly honest, I would recommend finishing Spider Man before jumping into SOTTR. Because at times, you may feel like jumping back into Spider Man due to the slow pacing of the game. Of course, that depends on how much you have enjoyed Spider Man.

What didn't you love about Rise? Because it's pretty much the same exact setup but more of it.

Rise had bland environments. Most of the game was spent in the snow and UC was much better at changing locations. Plus Rise lacked big, open combat areas. I felt 95% of the fights were in tight, confined areas where you just sat in one spot and shot until people were dead and moved on. Not that much strategy to them. I didn’t think the open world or hub was done that great either. I enjoyed the first game the most.

Bland? Wow. I loved all the snow early on and Geothermal Valley is thus far better than any area I have seen in Shadow. With that said, Shadow visual wise is excellent and the entire jungle is beautiful and man, is it dense. But 12 hours or so in, nothing has really wowed me since early on because I have seen it all already earlier in the game. Instead of snow, Shadow is all jungle thus far.

Combat wise, the areas haven't been any bigger and in one or two instances may have even been smaller than what it was in Rise. Also, there's less combat. I loved Geothermal Valley in Rise and definitely like the main HUB area that im at now in Shadow but I have done very little in the area and won't play again until Friday due to work so I can't say if I like it better than Valley in Rise or not.

I enjoyed the 2013 reboot as well but enjoyed Rise more and like I have said, Shadow is pretty much on par with Rise. Just swap out snow with the jungle.

Well I’ve played ahead about 45 minutes so far. I’m just into the linear opening and it’s fine so far. Standard stop Trinity plot initially. The graphics look good on the PS4 but not as good as an exclusive game like UC4. A little less detail during gameplay.

I took the advice of people to put hints and puzzles on hard and that may be a mistake lol. These are not strengths of mine. I got confused at one spot although I did figure it out. I think R3 does nothing now to help search for stuff. I like the rappelling.

Nice. I'm playing on PS4 Pro and seriously, game looks beautiful. For the last few years even before Pro and X, visually most games are basically a 10. Once cross gen ended with TW3 and Batman AK, visuals shouldn't be a problem for anyone. LOL. Yeah, exclusives will always look better but that's expected because in that case, the game is being developed for a sole platform.

Story wise, yeah, it's basically the same setup as the previous two games. I'm hoping that it gets better but im not expecting it to. More hoping than anything.

The grapple hook and rappelling is awesome. Just wait to later on bud. As for the puzzles and exploration (and combat for that matter), I would definitely recommend playing on HARD for all three aspects. The puzzles haven't been hard. I was somewhat stuck on one puzzle for a few minutes but then figured it out. I have died several times on puzzles because of trial and error when jumping but you can still kind of see and tell what Lara will grab and what she won't.

The one thing I will say about the puzzles and challenge tombs is that they're very well designed and while not extremely hard or difficult, you still get that sense of accomplishment when solving them which is why I recommend keeping everything on the hard difficulty. It's simply more rewarding. And yeah, on hard, R3 does nothing (remember this when going through the skill tree later on, hint hint) but in a way, that's a good thing.

I went back to Normal on everything. All playing on Hard was doing was causing me to take forever doing anything. I need the R3 help. I won’t miss the trophy

Oh wow. Kind of surprised because none of the three aspects have been hard at all for me. One small challenge tomb stumped me for maybe 10 minutes at most but then, I was like, oh crap...I see what I have to do now and it was so obvious but I didn't see it until I went to the other side of the room and looked at the puzzle from that perspective. Glad that you're enjoying the game more now though.

I’m about 25% through this game according to save file. It’s still early. I’m in Peru doing the challenge of the Eagle right now.

So far I think it’s safe for people to wait and get this on sale. I’m guessing this will be half price by Black Friday. The game does look really good, especially in cut scenes, but lacks details when running around. Lara’s face and hair can look PS3 like at times.

There is no real story imo. The game doesn’t even really set up anything interesting. Trinity = bad guys. Stop them. So I just go from one objective to another and follow along. The first game was so much better story wise because it was actually interesting. The game can be linear if you want but there are enough areas to explore to call this open world I guess. Maybe the game really opens up more later. It’s a bit annoying to find a crypt and then have the game tell me I can’t access it yet. Not great game design imo.

You can relax, explore, hunt animals and gather supplies. The usual stuff you expect from the last two games. But if you are looking for combat then look elsewhere. It’s few and far between. When you do stumble across bad guys stealth is the almost forced strategy on you.

Platforming is definitely harder than Uncharted. I die a decent amount and I do get confused as to what to do so I am using hints.

I think it’s a decent game. But it hasn’t sucked me in and is not a must have purchase at full price imo. Maybe the game really picks up soon as it’s a relaxing adventure so far that lacks a wow factor.

I'm about 35% of the way done and it honestly looks like a carbon copy of the last game. The story could be way better and it honestly has holes in it imo. The scenery is very good but the lack of a solid plot is holding it back

This game on the X is anything but ps3 type hair or faces, it is easily one of the best looking games this generation. I am sure is almost as good on the PRO
