    Re: 2019 Gaming Plans

Time for an update. Lots of gaming to start the year but very few completed games. That's why the backlog grows.

    2019 Wish List

    Last of Us 2
    Thronebreaker: The Witcher’s Tale
    Metro Exodus

    2019 Purchases/PS4 Free

    Far Cry 5 (PC)
Steep (PS4 - Free) Fun but graphics seem so dated.
Assassin’s Creed India (PC - Free)
    Subnautica (PC – Free)

    Games Finished in 2019

    Far Cry Primal (PS4 – Survivor – Hard) – 100 per cent
Next time I play a game in survivor mode, remember to smack me in the head. That was some ridiculously tough but fun gaming. The first 25 per cent of this caveman-era turn on the usual Far Cry formula of taking over a map outpost- by-outpost took me forever and was much harder than the last 25 per cent. Survivor mode involved a stamina bar that seemed like it was always depleted, pet animals that died and couldn’t be revived, slower crafting, owls that can’t kill and less room to carry items. The story wasn’t great but who plays Far Cry for the story? I always prefer a bow and arrow over overpowered guns so I enjoyed that. My biggest beef was that the characters weren’t as interesting as the usual Far Cry villains. It’s always feels good to finish a game that was on my backlog list for a long time. (My rating: 8 out of 10)

    Assassin’s Creed Origins DLC: The Pharoah’s Curse (PS4 -- Hard) – Level 55, 100 per cent
A pretty hefty DLC that takes place in the Valley of Kings and was much better than the Hidden Ones DLC. Good story and it increased the level cap to 55. It completes the Assassin’s Creed Origins story which was easily the best Assassin’s Creed game I’ve played. I loved the vibrant Egypt setting. (I’ve barely touched Odyssey so I can’t compare). (9 out of 10)

    Backlog Monster (tm)

    Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey: (PS4 – Hard) – Level 8, 10.41 per cent
    Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (PS4) – Level 7, 40 per cent
    Detroit: Become Human (PS4)
Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition (PC -- Tactical) – Level 10
    Fallout 4 (PC -- Hard) -- Level 24
    God of War 4 (PS4 – Challenge) – Alfheim
Kingdom Come: Deliverance (PC – Hardcore Mode) -- Level 8
    Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4) – 50.8 per cent
Star Wars: Battlefront II (PS4 – Soldier Level – Second Mission Complete)
    Tyranny (PC -- Hard) – Level 6
    X-Com 2 (PS4)
    Watch Dogs (PS4) – 25.4 per cent
    Yakuza Kiwami (PS4 -- Normal) – 2.6 per cent

    DLC Backlog

Dragon Age Inquisition DLC (PC) – Started Jaws of Hakkon – Level 26
Sniper Elite 4 DLC (PC – Snipe Elite Level) – Level 36
Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone DLC (PC – Blood and Broken Bones) – Character Level 41

    Sports Backlog

Football, Tactics and Glory (PC) –Bury (5-6-9, Fifth Season, Third League)
    FIFA 19 (PS4) – PSG (11-0). PSG are a cheat code.
    FIFA 16 (PC) -- West Bromwich (7-5-17)
    FIFA 16 (PC) -- Toronto FC (12-5-9)

    MLB 17 (PS4) – NY Mets (5-11)
    MLB 16 (PS4) – Toronto (23-22)
    MLB 15 (PS4) --Washington (32-36)
    MLB 14 (PS3) -- Los Angeles (22-14)
*I’m finding it nearly impossible to hit in MLB. My BABIP average must be about .200. It’s ridiculous when every line drive finds a glove.

    Madden 16 (PS4) -- San Diego (First Season: 6-10)

    NBA 2K16 (PS4) -- Toronto (3-4)
    NBA 2K14 Be A Pro (PC) - First Season -- 29 Games Played (11-18, 12.0 PPG)

NHL 19 (PS4) – Toronto (working on getting a good slider set)
    NHL 16 (PS4) – Pittsburgh (4-4)
    NHL 12 Be A Pro (Xbox360) – 49 Games Played

    F1 2016 (PS4 – Medium) – First Race: Australia -- 17th place

Forizon Horizon (Xbox 360 – Medium) – 4.7 per cent complete
    Top Spin (Xbox360 -- Normal) -- Level 18
    College Hoops 2K8 (Xbox360) -- First Season -- (6-23)
Career of Bryan Hurst: Year Six(MLB - PS4)
Video Diary of FIFA Manager Bhurst99 (FIFA - PC)
Career of Bryan Hurst: Year Two (NHL: Be A Pro - X360)
Toronto FC: Second Season (FIFA - PC)
    F1 Challenge Video Diary (PC)

        Re: 2019 Gaming Plans

Right now I have plans for:

        MLB The Show 19
        Mortal Kombat 11
        TLOU2

Most likely I'll break down at some point and get:

        NBA 2K20
        NHL 20
        WWE 2K20
        Fifa 20/PES 20

But then there are games I know nothing about that I may get:

I mainly play sports games and had no idea about a lot of games outside of this genre and discovered there was a Game called Metro Exodus until I saw a youtube ad. I bought it, I beat it, I loved it. I'm sure more game will come across my way I will pick up throughout the year. Also thinking about Anthem?

        Currently playing:

        Apex Legends
        PES 19
        Fifa 19
        WWE 2K19
        F1 2018
Project Cars 2 (On backlog. Got it for $10. Can't get it to work with my wheel yet. Haven't put any time into it).

Waiting for the NCAA Madden Mod or AAF. Just completed Metro Exodus yesterday.

          Re: 2019 Gaming Plans

Interesting to me is that there isn't much I'm excited about.

          eventual 2019 releases?

          Cyberpunk
The Last of Us 2 (more difficult now since I bought an xbox 1x)

          ...that's it really

I did buy spike volleyball and will buy anything that metalhead puts out, but I doubt that would be anything this year. I'm done with most major sports franchises at this point, they've just all lost me including 2k basketball which was surprising.

I almost wish major developers would swap genres where we'd get a major bump in innovation and creativity and new sets of eyes on projects. Like if 2k made a shooter and ubisoft made a NFL or boxing/mma game. I think a major shakeup is needed, everything is just so stale.

There is no foreseeable end between me and PUBG though, what a great game I'm utterly addicted to it. And to extend my previous thought, I'd welcome a BF game or COD game with PUBG's shooting mechanics, that would be killer.

Two months in and I haven't purchased a game yet, but I did get a new game for free that I really enjoy, and that's Tetris 99. I am OK at the game, but it's fun and the battle royale aspect of it is totally addicting.

Totally agree, and I love this pipe-dream too.
Not sure anyone remembers, but there was an old hockey game called NHL Championship 2000 by Fox Interactive.
I believe it was the first hockey game to use analog controls for skating. It was slower and more methodical than EA's offering, but I loved it. Played hundreds of games on it.
I actually had the opportunity to speak to one of the original developers and they said that 2001 was basically done when it was cancelled. He claimed the changes and additions they made to the sequel would have blown away hockey fans.

It really stinks for the younger generation of sports gamers. They have no idea how great things were 'back in the day' when there were multiple options for every sport.

Moving on... there really aren't any games on the horizon I'm excited about. Maybe Days Gone.
My gaming days have slowly been coming to an end over the past 4-5 years. RDR2 brought me back in and I'm loving that game. But when my interest wears off, my Xbox will be used mostly for streaming Netflix, Amazon Prime, Crave TV and DAZN.
I just haven't noticed a lot of creative, innovative games over the past few years.
It's why I'm in no hurry to run out and buy an XB2 or PS5 in 2020. The graphics always get better and better, but we're essentially playing the same FPS's and sports games generation after generation.

The main issue is that there's no legitimate competition. Back in the day, you had Madden, QB Club, Montana and Tecmo. Now, it's just Madden. NBA wise, you had Live, Tecmo and Courtside. You also had 989 Sports for PlayStation.

Now, it's pretty much all exclusive. Madden for NFL. 2K for NBA and yeah, I know Live still exists but let's be honest, the franchise itself has been dead for years. NHL wise, it's only EA if I remember correctly. Soccer wise, it's only FIFA since Konami stopped paying for the licenses. And MLB wise, it's just The Show which is exclusive to PlayStation.

That to me would be the real issue. Changing developers/publishers won't make any difference and if anything, you would probably get even worse sports games because none of them would have the interest or knowledge to develop them. At least Sony's San Diego studio cares about The Show. All of them are said to be baseball fanatics. Don't know how true this is but if it is, you can't replace that.

It's also the simple fact that sports games are annual games so each game is on maybe an 8 month development cycle if you're lucky.

                    Re: 2019 Gaming Plans

                    Update from post #51.

Completed New Super Mario Bros U. Deluxe (8.0/10) for Switch, Resident Evil 2 (9.0/10), Far Cry New Dawn (8.0/10) and Metro Exodus (9.0/10).

Also completed Nioh (8.5/10) and Detroit: Become Human (8.0/10).

March will be Devil May Cry 5 in four more days followed by The Division 2 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Two games that are as of right now 50/50 for me are Left Alive and Generation Zero.

April will be Days Gone which im anxiously anticipating and very much looking forward to. Mid-late May will be Rage 2.

Also have Mortal Kombat XI but this will be a GameFly rental during the summer which also consists of Red Dead Redemption 2 and both expansions for Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

As of right now, after Rage 2, the next game I have interest in buying with a confirmed release date is Platinum Games developed Astral Chain for Nintendo Switch which is great because if it stays that way, I'll be able to clear out some more games from my backlog which consists of the following -

Ratchet & Clank, Watch Dogs 2 and Middle-Earth: Shadow of War. For last generation, I have Batman Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, COD Modern Warfare 2 and possibly 3 along with The Darkness and Dante's Inferno. Thankfully, 5 out of the 6 last gen games are quick linear games.

Hoping to be 100% finished with my last gen and current gen backlogs by the time next gen launches.

Finished Red Dead and Spiderman from last year, both 10/10 all-time greats for me.

Currently playing Metro Exodus, and I give it about a 7. May have to bump down the difficulty to really appreciate it more. Also, just upgraded to an X over my original One, so now I have the Xbox One X and the PS4 Pro. Just looking to buy a nice 4K monitor or TV (or both, who knows LOL) and I'll be set on that front.

For upcoming games, I have an entire excel list of upcoming releases I'm looking forward to, which are:

Top Priority: The Division 2, MLB The Show 19, Days Gone. The Last of Us 2 and Halo Infinite I include but arent confirmed yet.
Moderate Priority: Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order (f' EA but it's Star Wars), Gears 5, Dying Light 2. All not confirmed.
Low Priority: AC3 Remastered, Elder Scrolls: Elsweyr, World War Z, Cyberpunk 2077. I beat AC3, not liberation, and the rest I would be completely new to.

Add in the new Modern Warfare, and any other games that will be unveiled at E3 in June.

MINOR UPDATE FROM POST #73 -

                        - Eliminated Left Alive from my games list as the game is bad. Not wasting my money and more importantly my time on it. Generation Zero is still 50/50 as of now. Waiting on reviews when it releases.

                        - Added Judgment to my games list. Pretty much a guarantee play-through. Haven't decided yet if im going to buy it or rent it from GameFly but it will be played. It releases June 25th, 2019.

Just a heads up - Gears 5 is pretty much all but guaranteed to be this coming October. TLOUP2 doesn't have a release window yet let alone a release date. And Halo Infinite has already been confirmed to be a Fall 2020 Xbox 4 launch title.

Hitman 2, Sekiro, Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, Resident Evil 2.

Right now, my plan is to keep working my way through these games. They all provide me with something different, so it'll be fun jumping around and taking my time with them.

Other than that, I'm pretty sure I'll grab Days Gone when it comes out. I also look forward to getting the final season of Walking Dead and Life is Strange 2 (whenever its all released). The Last of Us 2, Judgment, and Yakuza Kiwami 3 are my most anticipated games, though.

I would add Cyberpunk to my list, but I have no expectations of it coming out this year. That would be nice, but I know that it's going to be amazing whenever it does release.

I'm pretty much done on feeling the need to buy everything at launch now. I still purchase plenty, but games go on sale so quickly that I don't mind waiting for most of them.

Fallout 4 is my favourite game on the current gen systems and I played it for 3 months straight unlocking all Achievements! So I'm hoping I enjoy Fallout 76 as much even though I'm not too keen on the online part...
I stuck to playing Fallout 76 for all 3 months but I really didn't enjoy it compared to Fallout 4. Only ended up with 500 Gamerscore and didn't even bother attempting to finish the main quest

I did end up playing through Onimusha Warlords a few times and moving onto Forza Horizon 4 today as planned.
