I have really committed to my immense backlog this year as I jam MLB The Show 19 and Madden 19, NBA 2K18 and NHL 19 for a long time.

Other than The Show my sports gaming purchases are done on the PS4 generation.

      Re: 2019 Gaming Plans

I've had a really quiet year of gaming. I've spent much of my gaming time just roaming the countryside in RDR2. I've only completed one game since my last update and one DLC. It seems like it will be a year dedicated to my backlog as there is nothing new coming out that really strikes me as a must buy, unlike last year.

      2019 Wish List

      Thronebreaker: The Witcher’s Tale
      Metro Exodus

      2019 Purchases/PS4 Free

      Far Cry 5 (PC)
      Steep (PS4 - Free)
Assassin’s Creed India (PC - Free)
      Subnautica (PC – Free)
      Witness (PS4 – Free)

      Games Finished in 2019

God of War 4 (PS4 – Give Me A Challenge)
I’m generally not into the fighting genre but it was fun to freeze and burn enemies and the story about our hero and his son was top notch. There was definitely a travel element between the two that felt like the Last of Us. I was lost with the whole Norse mythology but that’s my fault not the developers. I loved the dialogue of Brok and Sindri. There’s still a lot for me to finish and I may need to turn down the difficulty to defeat some of the Valkyries. (9 out of 10)

      Just Cause 3 DLC (PS4)
Sky Fortress (86 per cent); Mech Land Assault (94 per cent); Bavarium Sea Heist (100 per cent). Blowing things up is always fun but by the time I was done with the DLC I cared little about Rico and his pals and have no desire to play Just Cause 4. The wing suit was incredibly difficult to use in Sky Fortress. I need more of a story and better characters to keep me interested (6 out of 10)

      Far Cry Primal (PS4 – Survivor – Hard) – 100 per cent
      Assassin’s Creed Origins DLC: The Pharoah’s Curse (PS4 -- Hard) – Level 55, 100 per cent

      Backlog Monster (tm)

      Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey: (PS4 – Hard) – Level 8, 10.41 per cent
      Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (PS4) – Level 7, 40 per cent
      Detroit: Become Human (PS4)
Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition (PC -- Tactical) – Level 11
      Fallout 4 (PC -- Hard) -- Level 24
Kingdom Come: Deliverance (PC – Hardcore Mode) -- Level 8
      Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4) – 67.6 per cent
Star Wars: Battlefront II (PS4 – Soldier Level – Second Mission Complete)
      Tyranny (PC -- Hard) – Level 6
      X-Com 2 (PS4)
      Watch Dogs (PS4) – 25.4 per cent

Dragon Age Inquisition DLC (PC) – Started Jaws of Hakkon – Level 26
Sniper Elite 4 DLC (PC – Snipe Elite Level) – Level 36
Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone DLC (PC – Blood and Broken Bones) – Character Level 41

FIFA 16 (PC) -- Toronto FC (13-5-12, in playoffs)

      MLB 19 (PS4) – Milwaukee (2-4)
      MLB 17 (PS4) – NY Mets (5-13)
      MLB 16 (PS4) – Toronto (27-26)

        Re: 2019 Gaming Plans

So I have not bought a single 2019 new release game but now after e3 the rest of the year is looking crazy and even more so for Nintendo. This is like my thoughts some of the games are 2020 games but with this list you can like see like what I am looking forward to this year has most of them are 2019 games.

I wasn't expecting much from e3 this year with Sony not being there and being that I dont care for Microsoft but Nitendo e3 was really good and 2019 is like loaded with games the rest of the year. Here is all the games shown at e3 that I am interested in getting and when they are comming out and a few of them I had zero interest in before we saw more game play of them.
        Candence of hyrule 6/13/19
        Super Mario maker 6/28/19
        Marvel ultimate alliance 3 7/19/19
        Astral chain 8/30/19
        Daemon x machine 9/13/19
        Zelda links awakening 9/20/19
        Luigis mansion 3 fall 2019
        Gods and monsters fall 2020
Lego Star wars the skywalker saga 2020
        Zelda BOTW sequel TBD
Star wars Jedi fallen order 11/15/19
        Psychonauts 2 2020
        Watch dogs Legion 3/6/20
        ghost wire TBD
yooka laylee and the impossible lair 2019
So looks like I have 9 games to get the rest of the year crazy for only like half a year and already have 4 games I known I want for 2020. June 2 games, July 1 game, August 1 game, September 2 games, November 1 games. Future looks good and I think Zelda BOTW sequel will be a late 2020 game to take some of the spot light away from when ps5 most likely comes out.

          Re: 2019 Gaming Plans

I rarely play games at release these days so pretty much everything I play is at least a year or two old, if not more. I just cant keep up and dont have the time I used to.

Right now I am working on finishing up my playthrough of Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii. I'm about 85-90% through the game. 13 year old me would love it. 37 year old me has moments where I appreciate everything the game is, and also loathes the anime tropes and gameplay loop of JRPGs in general. That said, I have more positive than negative to say about it. I can also say I have some "palette cleanser" gaming to do after this and a planned long break from JRPGs, and a bit of break from Western RPGs too (I love WRPGs but need a break from long games).

After wrapping up Xenoblade here is what the rest of my year looks like:

          Call of Duty Modern Warfare
          CoD: Modern Warfare 2
Life is Strange Before the Storm
          Oxenfree
The Walking Dead seasons 3 and 4
          The Order 1886
          Silent Hill
          Until Dawn
Days Gone (if I can grab it cheap)

I wont get through all of these this year (most likely), but is on my playlist.

This doesnt include the NCAA '14 dynasty, and NBA 2k MyLeagues that I am working on.

I've done a better job finishing games:
            Yoshi's Crafted World
            Rise of the Tomb Raider
            Spider-Man
            Resident Evil Revelations
            Lego DC Super Villains

The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening, Fire Emblem and Luigi's Mansion 3 are on my list to purchase.

Probably Madden 20. I'm going to try to skip MLB 19, but I make no promises. Other than that, my backlog has me covered.
With the first half of the year now over, it seems like a good time to re-visit.

NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 (on sale for $15)

Got some sports game dynasties going with FIFA and NBA being solid titles and 2K5 + M07 being my favorite football games ever. Witcher 3, ACO and RDR 2 have big open worlds that I can take my time with. I'll likely stick with this for a while as there are no new games that peak my interest releasing soon.

An update to this; I finished RDR 2 and the Witcher 3. Stopped playing 2k5 and M07. Also done with FIFA and 2k for this cycle. Currently I'm on a rotation between Persona 5, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Yakuza Kiwgami (sp?), and Uncharted: Lost Legacy. The three sports games (Madden, FIFA, and 2k) I'll wait for a Black Friday deal before acquiring these games.

AC Odyssey is excellent. Massive but excellent. Loved Lost Legacy. Hope you will too. Yakuza Kiwami is great BUT start with Yakuza Zero if you haven't played it already.

I'm guessing Yakuza Zero comes before Kiwami on the timeline? I heard Kiwami was the re-make of the 1st game so I went with that one first.

Yeah. Kiwami is a remake of the original PS2 Yakuza game while Zero is a prequel and a brand new game. I played and completed Zero/Kiwami/Kiwami 2/Judgment which is unrelated to the Yakuza series but set in the same city and map.

                        For me personally -

                        1. Zero (8.5/10)
                        2. Kiwami 2 (8.5/10)
                        3. Kiwami (8.0/10)
                        4. Judgment (8.0/10)

I simply LOVED the story and characters the most in Zero. Kiwami 2 is a notch below it but overall, same rating. Up to you but I do recommend Zero so if you get the chance to play it, don't pass on it. Even if you just play the main story, easily worth a play-through.

Currently I'm really enjoying Days Gone. When I finish that I've got Spider man , The Division 2 , and Detroit to play , not to mention several games still in my back log.

The next 3 purchases will be Madden 20 (depending on my 10 hour EA Access trial) , MXGP 2019 , and Grid.

                            For me personally -

                            1. Zero (8.5/10)
                            2. Kiwami 2 (8.5/10)
                            3. Kiwami (8.0/10)
                            4. Judgment (8.0/10)

I simply LOVED the story and characters the most in Zero. Kiwami 2 is a notch below it but overall, same rating. Up to you but I do recommend Zero so if you get the chance to play it, don't pass on it. Even if you just play the main story, easily worth a play-through.

Thanks for the clarification. I actually got Kiwami for free via PS Plus awhile back so I'll see how I like it. May try Zero and the other games if I enjoy Kiwami enough.

I saw a couple people mention they have the Batman Arkham games on their radar. First and foremost those games are phenomenal.

But I wanted to say dont sleep on Arkham Origins. It was made by a different studio but has the best story of the Arkham games in my opinion. The gameplay isn't as polished at times, but the story and boss fights make up for it.
