Rainbow Six series and the Ghost Recon series to me are handsdown some of the most realistic combat shooters I've ever seen.

Re: Most Realistic Combat video game
I'd say Metal Gear Solid, due to the fact that you don't go runnin out shootin at people and get hit like 50 times but stay alive. But the fact that Snake is in there alone isn't realistic. That's the only thing though.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Most Realistic Combat video game
Yeah... Full Spectrum Warrior is basicly a military simulator not a videogame. FSW will teach you real military tactics, but the AI and the hit detection is pathetic in that game.
As far as realism goes- you still have to go with Real-Time Strategy games like Full Specturm Warrior, Close Combat, Sid Meier`s Gettysburg, Shogun:totalwar, Squad Assault:west front! etc...etc.. most of these are PC games but in these games, real military tactics have been integrated into the AI and Turn-based strategy games also offer deeper tactics than FPS.
as far as FPS goes-
I would say Medal Of Honor would be pretty low on my list of "realisitic" shooters. Battlefield 1942 is more of a military simulation than MOH will ever be. MOH (PC version) is a great multiplayer game though!
perhaps the most realistic is a game called Day Of Defeat for the PC. its a mod for the original half-life game and its quite realistic. you`ll see a ton of one shot kills in this game and more tactics can be utilized in this game than your average shooter. but for the best experience in getting a good feel for what a military operation is like, I would say Battlefield 1942 (PC version) is the game!
in BF 1942 you can navigate, fighter planes, bomber planes, warships, tanks, and other military vehicles of ww2. but the best thing about BF is the conquest mode for multiplayer. its by far the best mode i`ve seen for an FPS game. and the in-game menu options for conmunicating with your team are EXCELLENT and very well designed! all the different tactics and strategys you can do in this game blow away any other FPS game i`ve played. in conquest mode, you have to capture different areas on the map and each team has a certain number of spawns and when you lose a location, you also lose a certain number of spawns etc...etc.. every FPS game should have this game mode!
however BF is a weak single player game but an outstanding MP game! if you haven`t played it, I highly recommend it!Last edited by KillRoy; 12-26-2004, 01:56 AM.Comment
