gameplay and story/plot...if a game doesn't suck me in with the story and make me want to play it then nowadays I'm probably stop playing in a week or 2, unless there's online play (that's a different case, it's all gameplay when it comes to online play)

However, a game can have a good plot, but totally suck to play, so you can't forget that...

        Gameplay/AI

I don't mind playing a game with horrible graphics if the gameplay is awesome. I mean, good graphics, help, but they aren't a necessity IMO.

Re: What most draws you into a game?

I think for me its a little bit more complicated. I need depth.

I need a game that not only provides dozens of hours of fun, but a game that is deep and immersive. Thats why I like sports games so much. Franchises, seasons, stats, hundreds of diffrent players, diffrent arenas, diffrent looks and styles....in other words, I want to be so immersed into a game that I want yesterdays experience to be completely diffrent from todays experience. I dont like games where I learn all of the bottons/moves in one day and each day I play, nothing significant really changes. For instance, a FPS that has only a small assortment of weaponry and linear pathways would get boring to me. Thats why I'm a big fan of the Hitman series and the Deus Ex series.

I like RPGs, because they all have depth but what seperated the Morrowinds from the Final Fantasys is the linearness. I need games where my game will look completely diffrent from another persons game. I like to think situations out myself, so I dont need a walkthrough or a guide, just my instincts. Not so much a trail and error type of game, but a game where you only lose if you did'nt think ahead. If anyone understands me.

Graphics take a big part of it also. But its not the most important. Sega has slowly turned me onto graphics but its not needed for non-sport games. For sports games, of course you would like for the players to actually look like they're real life counterparts but for non-sport games, as long as its believable, fluid and the physics are on par, I'm satisfied.

Artificial Intellegence is a big thing for me. I'm not much of a online gamer so it is a must that my games have a somewhat intellengent AI. Sports games are diffrent from non-sports games of course. For fantasy type games, its hard to guage reality from fiction when it comes to AI behavior because its sopposedly "fantasy" to begin with. For instance, Halo has some of the best emeny AI I have ever witness in a FPS. They react just like they were human. But how many games do we have today with the AI of Halo enemies? Not many if any at all. All AI is developed for you, the user to defeat guaranteed. Halo is the only game I have seen where the guarantee is thrown out of the window and your actual skill and technique will help you defeat the AI. This is the type of AI I love. And no, not just some BS harder skill level that cheats for a challenge. Give me realism and I will give you a challenge.

Well those are my needs for my games. I'm sure all factors mix in at some point in time, its just that I need ultra-super-uber realism. I get an errection when I get thick game manuals and intsructions that takes days to read. Thats my type of game.
