    Outer Wilds

Outer Wilds (not to be confused with Obsidian's Outer Worlds) was released on XBOX One and PC (exclusive to Windows Store and EPIC store) on May 29, 2019.

I don't own the game (yet - was waiting on reviews) but the reviews look great.

From what I read, it appears to be No Man's Sky (but with a curated solar system) meets Majora's Mask. That sounds intriguing.

Apparently the game should take 20 hours to complete.

It's $14.99 on the Epic Store for the duration of their Epic Sale, and I've read that it's on XBOX Game Pass but I don't know the full details of that.

Anyone pick up the game? I think I'll purchase it this weekend for PC.

I want to play this on Game Pass next, but I need to finish Prey first.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

      Re: Outer Wilds

      I'm having fun with it.

The synopsis of the game pretty much explains this but to not ruin it for everyone, there is a mechanism in this game that kind of limits every play through to 23 minutes. It's part of the story. You can obviously keep playing after each 23 minute segment.

So it's been fun to turn the game on, play around for 20 minutes as I walk around a planet uncovering secrets, save, and then do something else like work, play another game, watch tv, whatever.

This game scares me in a way that most underwater games do. Fun fact about CMH: he hates underwater moments in games. Gives me the real heebie-jeebies. I'm talking my skin crawls. I couldn't play Subnautica because of it.

No Man's Sky and Elite Dangerous never gave me the feeling that this game does. I can't really explain it, but it just feels so empty and the planets have enough uniqueness and mystery that you never know what's around the next corner.

I also like that the planets are not Earth-like in size. They are essentially play areas that you have to fly to.

It's a fun experience. It's not an action-oriented game. You aren't trying to kill enemies. You don't have a ray gun (at least not that I've seen). It's sort of like The Witness but in space.
