    Final Fantasy VIII: Remastered

I'm so excited for this. Despite its awkward magic system, ff8 is my favorite game in the franchise.

Imo it has the best cast of characters and the most engaging story. Every final fantasy game has fantastic music, but Nobuo Uemetsu outdid himself in 8...on a side note, I could almost play FF games just for their OST's

The only thing in struggling with is what platform to get in on. I'm certain there will be some fun mods on the PC scene, but the franchise doesn't have a strong history with PC versions. Also, it is a lot more fun playing RPGs on my night screen (which I prefer not to go on up to pc).

        Re: Final Fantasy VIII: Remastered

Ended up going with the Switch version for the mobility.

I've only spent about an hour or so with the game so far, but it brings back great memories. The characters models have seen a major improvement, you can actually see Squall's face now.

One of the major gameplay differences I have noticed early on is with the "DRAW" system. In older versions of the game you could only "draw" a certain number of times from an enemy before they ran out of whatever magic you were taking from them. At least early on there does not seem to be a limit. So for instance you can max out on cure spells in your first battle if you're ambitious. In some ways it's kind of cheating versus the original experience, but I'll be very happy to not spend hours searching for multiple random encounters just to get 99 of an magic later in the game.

There are also gameplay boosters that I'm really enjoying since I've played through this game a few times over the years.

My favorite booster is the 3x speed one. This speed boost affects movement in the world map, action times during battles, and GF cutscenes (I shudder to think how many hours I have spent waiting for the long GF cutscenes in prior playthroughs). I like this one because it doesn't really feel like you're cheating since all you're doing is playing the game on 3x speed. It helps to alleviate some of the grind (also to note is that audio syncs with the increased speed perfectly).

There are two other boosters to note which I do not plan on using, but some may want to.
1 - No random battles. I suppose if you're going for a low level clear this would be helpful.
2 - God mode. Makes it so your HP can not be drained, your limit break is always up, and you never have to wait for your ATB gauge to fill before you can make another action. You can still be petrified though.

Yep on PC there is a long list of boosters and items you can turn on from the beginning. Everything from getting all cards from the card game to starting out with the unique weapons.
