    Question to the GameCube folks...

Thanks to a Christmas present I got (one of the japanese gaming controllers with like, 100 old-school NES games on it), I have recently fallen back in love with the likes of Mario, Link, and Samus.

My question to you Gamecube folks is this...are there enough Mario, Zelda, and Metroid games on the Gamecube to warrant purchasing the system soley for those types of games? I have my XBox for all of my sports gaming needs, I wouldn't even consider getting a sports title on the Cube. I'd want it just so I could play Mario and Zelda.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would have to say yes, but a couple of nintendo titles fall short. SSBM, Metroid Prime 1/2, SMS, Pikmin 1/2 and F-zero are all great, but a couple like WW and Double Dash are underwhelming. It's still worth it considering the cheap price tag.

Well worth it. There are a lot of first party Nintendo games for the GC that are great. Metroid Prime 1\2 are the $99 alone IMO. Everything else is just a bonus

With Resident Evil 4 coming out, owning a Cube is a no brainer, it got a 9.8 from IGN and a 9.6 from Gamespot.

I would get another Cube for sure. I think Double Dash is by far the best GC game for me. The AI in the game is so challenging on difficult levels and it's an awesome multiplayer experience. There is plenty of the Nintendo characters to go around on the GC, so I'd definately get it.

This console is so underated by the media here lately. And there is some great RPG's out there for it to, Tales of Symphonia, Baten Kaitos, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicals. And don't forget "The Legend Of Zelda" is due out later in the year too. And I'd definately invest in Animal Crossing, but it's a little funner if you can get some of your family to play it too, cause it's like a community type game. But only one person can play at a time. Tons of replayability for it.

Well folks, thanks for the advice. I decided to take the plunge. Here's what I got from EB Games last night...

                        - Used Gamecube (On sale at EB Games for $59.99)
                        - Extra Controller
                        - Largest Mad Katz Memory Card available
                        - Super Mario Sunshine
                        - Luigi's Mansion
                        - Zelda: Wind Waker
                        - Mario Golf
                        - Mario Party 5 (I think that's it...whichever is the newest one)

Last night, I got into Super Mario Sunshine some...having been a N64 owner, I was pretty familiar with the control scheme as it was almost identical to Mario 64. Anyway, about Super Mario Sunshine, that game is a BLAST!! I spent 10 minutes farting around on the clothes lines in that first world you start out in, jumping up and down on them and trying to do flips and what not on my way to the ground.

Mario Party seems pretty cool too. I put that one in and spent a few minutes playing that. Those games seem like they could get addictive REALLY fast when playing them with my girlfriend.

Mario Golf...pretty much what I expected. A fun little game with familiar characters.

Other than Metroid Prime, which other Gamecube exclusive games am I missing out on? Is Mario Tennis fun? How about Mario Kart? Wario Ware? What am I missing?

Tomorrow, get Resident Evil 4, thank me later. It's a Cube exclusive for a year, then it goes to PS2, but the PS2 won't be able to do those graphics.
