    XBox Live Subscribers

I just read the article below about the Halo 2 sales (which is pretty amazing in itself) but it also quoted that there are 1.4 million subscribers to Xbox Live. Unless my math is wrong, that's $70 million dollars a year Microsoft/XBox makes off XBox Live alone.

With them making that much off it we should never have lag!!!

    Here's the article: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...soft_halo_dc_1

well I rairly get any lag problems, so I can't complain, I get my money's worth out of the subscription every year. It adds unlimited replay value to most of the games I buy.

Even if they make three times that, it wouldn't affect lag.

When playing XBL, it's a peer-to-peer connection. When you and I play, the lag is between us, and doesn't involve Microsoft, but rather our individual ISPs, and their connections.

No doubt. In the two years I've been a subscriber, 95% of my play time has been with RTCW and Halo2. I've played well over 500 games of Halo2 and still suck, but I'm easily getting my money's worth.

Well, you're not factoring in how much it costs them to run XBox Live. That stuff isn't free, ya know. I'm sure they're making a profit, but it's not 100% profit. There have to be some costs involved.

There's really not much they can do about lag. But with them making that much we should never see cheaters.

So there's absolutely nothing to do with their servers? I used to get all kinds of lag playing all the ESPN games (Baseball, Basketball, Football) which is only connecting 2 people. Then I can play Halo with 16 people and not have a problem at all....how is that possibly if their servers aren't doing something?

I know the 70 mil isn't entire profit but I gotta believe a good 25% of it is....which is pretty good.
