Re: Older games you like that not many people talk about anymore?

What about "Jade Empire"? That game had its share of problems, but it had all the potential in the world and I cannot believe that BioWare has never done anything with that IP since the original game. From my perspective, I'd much rather they made a franchise out of "Jade Empire" than "Mass Effect" (although I did like and play every Mass Effect except the most recent one).

A second "Jade Empire" could have made the combat more fun and varied (between the different styles), but basically kept the same 'Bioware' structure, and would potentially also have benefitted from being able to reinvent with an entirely new story with each new game (as opposed to being locked into a single, broader, over-arching narrative as with Mass Effect).

I don't even want to imagine how awesome a "Jade Empire" game on current or next-gen would have been, with re-tooled combat so that it played/felt like the 1970s/80s Hong Kong chop-socky flicks I used to watch back in the day on the weirdo local TV station at midnight on Saturdays, with full-on BioWare (pre-EA) production values and story. I can envision the skill tree now....I'd build a min/maxed drunken boxing expert with no weapon skills and maxed damage defense/stamina following the way of the Open Hand on my first play-through (Jackie Chan in "Drunken Master 2"), then a nunchuck expert with high 'evade' and max speed qualities (Bruce Lee in "Way of the Dragon") following the way of the Closed Fist for my second play-through.

Not sure what BioWare is working on now, but whatever it is, it isn't as cool as that would have been...

Nope, that would be Operation Flashpoint: Elite on the og Xbawks.

Dragon Rising was a pale imitation by different devs (Codemasters)

MUCH worse and less deadly enemy AI. As a long time fan of tactical shooters, I was pretty pumped for DR pre-release and it ended up being one of the biggest letdowns ever.

Not quite "older" but a lot of people forgot about Infamous. Really wish we'd get another Infamous... Second Son was awesome and really displayed the power the PS4 had

For me, it's got to be Syphon Filter series. They're nothing super remarkable, but I have so much nostalgia built up into those games and love them to death. Honorable mentions to Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, Wet, Dino Crisis, 2Xtreme, Indigo Prophecy. I'm sure I'm forgetting many others.
The Last of Us is the Citizen Kane of video-games. It is better than every game that has ever come before it, and is the new benchmark for all games to follow. It is nothing short of a work of art.

Syphon Filter 2 was probably my most played game on PS1. Even the multiplayer was awesome

Spec Ops: The Line. Even when you're done, you can go into the cooperative mode, but since no one goes online with it any longer (maybe a few Steam people) and treat each of the 4 missions as mini-games. The PC version in these mini-games is far more difficult than on the PS3.

As far as the main game, the story is quite well done. Sometimes the movements get you hung up and can get in the way of getting into the correct position when you need to, but everything else far outweighs that.

                Fat Princess

There was a thread here on OS that only lasted a few months with people actually participating in it. I clocked over 50 hours in that game online and got my 100+ wins, but the pre-release hype was significantly larger than that of the post-release interaction. There were only a select few of us playing together.

They didn't help themselves with some of the new added content, making massive maps instead of keeping them smaller especially. Then they made the co-op campaign game, which I never got into. I think their decisions from their initial release kind of tanked them.

But I don't know if I had more fun times online than that first month that I got the game and was playing online with 31 others. If people are playing this game again, I'd like to fire up my PS3 and check it out once more... see if I can recapture the magic of old.

EDIT: And for those who don't know what this game is, it's basically Capture the Flag, only the "flag" is a princess that you can feed to fatten up so that she is slower to carry for the opponent. Here is a gameplay video uploaded in 2018 (hopefully a good sign that there is still online activity in this game):

My brother and I had sooooo many hours poured into that multiplayer, man. Outside of Skyrim or maybe Tecmo Super Bowl, I don't know if I've played a game as much -- in terms of pure hours count -- as I have SF2. At one point, my younger self could have recited most of the dialogue for the entire game, haha. Simply delightful.

I would love a MGS 4 remaster. It doesn't even need the remake treatment because it still holds up well today. It seems like it would be a past title that is perfect for next gen. Imagine that game running in 4k60, Ray Tracing, Spatialized Audio, with Higher Quality Assets/4k Textures. That game would look amazing optimized for next gen.

I just wish Konami would sell their IPs or at least license out their IPs since they aren't as focused on gaming as they are with pachinko machines, Mobile, and PES. Silent Hill(I know of the rumors), Metal Gear Solid, and Castelvania are good IPs that are being wasted sitting on sidelines. If the rumors are true about Silent Hill Soft Reboot, than also hope that Konami is also willing to license out MGS and allow a reboot

Valkyria Chronicles Series is something I still play on a regular basis. I have even kept a PSP around just so I could play 2 and 3

Way back before I even got into console gaming I played Tony Larussa Baseball and Old Time Baseball built on the same engine from Storm Front Studios
