I did the same thing last year around this time and loved what I played of it. Fun gameplay, amazing atmosphere. I really need to go back and finish it.

I still play Diablo 3, especially around the start of new seasons.

I am almost finished with it. I have not been able to stop playing. Seriously a little gem of a game.

The gun play feels awesome, the slo mo bullet cams are freaking great. The whole atmosphere/set pieces and music is awesome.

Killing Nazi zombies is so damn satisfying!!!

Older games you like that not many people talk about anymore?

FarCry 2 is my favorite game of all time. Unfortunate for me, the subsequent FarCry games do not scratch the same itch, not remotely. Closet games to FC2 since FC2 are *maybe* MGSV and *maybe* GRWL. But even those are not the same, at all.

And of course this is a very unpopular opinion, so any time I bring it up I get told how bad FC2 was and how much more “fun” FC3-5 are. I hate you if you think this. You are why FC3-5 are so BAD, why a FC2 remaster will never happen, and why we’ll never get a game like FC2 again.

If anyone is interested in this topic as I am, here are the two best sources of info on the game I’m aware of:

This, I probably literally googled “how to have fun playing FC2” because I hated it at first. Reading that really changed my perspective on the game.

Then there’s this video, which is extremely eloquent and informed, and makes a larger point about dying in games that is very central as to why I think FC5 sucks *** for example and why FC2 was so much better.
          Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

I played 10 hours or so of FC2 last Summer. FC3 was definitely streamlined and I'm still astonished that you could set fire to pretty much anything in FC2 and effectively change the landscape.

FC4 & 5 haven't been on the same level as FC3 to me, but I would welcome an FC2 remaster or at least go back to some of those gameplay mechanics.

I can remember when "Don't Starve" was a big deal, on here. I think a lot of us were obsessed with that game, at one point. Super challenging.

I was a big fan of Both Mercenaries and Mercenaries 2 even with how buggy part 2 was. Fun open world games with lots of great explosion's.

I loved those games. Having the deck of cards as your hit list was a nice touch.

Freedom Fighters - the EA game from early 00s is now on Steam. You play as a "regular Joe" who is recruited into a band of freedom fighters to fight against a foreign army invasion. I remember playing through it, but that's about it.

I spent over 100+ hours in Arma 3 essentially creating an open world campaign in Vietnam during the Vietnam war that was partially inspired by Mercenaries (and The Outfit, if anyone played that), and it was great. I learned so much of the editor before it had the 3D capabilities. I had a good chunk of the thing done and actually had it somewhat optimized for an Arma mission. Before I completed it, a patch came out that made my mission obsolete and I lost all motivation to even try and continue the project because I'd have to start over more or less. Even with the experience I had gained, I had no desire to redo all that I had done to that point.

Sort of off-topic, but I loved the Mercenaries games and I enjoy talking about the 100+ hours I wasted on a mission partially inspired by the series.

I've been playing MLB the Show 14 pretty heavily the last few months. it's been for the roster more than anything. but still, the gameplay had to be good or I couldn't return for such a lengthy stay.

14 is a great game. I may pop that back in again as well in the near future.

I was thinking of the same thing. I was seriously thinking about doing a 30 team carry over and start at 14 and play thru them all again. Maybe not play every game/inning. But I think it would be fun to end the era and this gen of consoles and then carry it over in a year or so when ever I finally pick up a PS5.
