Re: Gamers return PSP!!! DESIGN FLAW
The US version won't have that problem, the square button problem was only with the first batch of PSP's.
The US version is this
By looking at face and the circuit board of the PSP, it looks like the Square button is centered properly.
The Square button of the PSP's face is centered fine with the PSP's circuit board. The problem with the ones in Japan was they were out of place by 1/8 of inch.
Looks like everything will be fine with the US launch -

"The button's location is [architectured] on purpose," Kutaragi added. "It's according to specifications. This is something that we've created, and this is our specification. There was a clear purpose to it, and it wasn't a mistake."
Offering additional testimony praising the handheld, Kutaragi said, "I believe we made the most beautiful thing in the world. Nobody would criticize a renowned architect's blueprint that the position of a gate is wrong. It's the same as that."
I hope they fix it...I want one of those things BAD.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

Re: Gamers return PSP!!! DESIGN FLAW
I can't beleive they released this knowing it has issues. What a load of crap. I'm never going to buy one of these. It's like their saying "Yeah we know it has a problem, but get used to it, because we're not fixing it."
He said himself in the interview gamers and developers would have to adapt to it. That's a crock!Comment

Yea I read that part, but I wouldn't place the blame entirely on the design. It's a mixture of both design/manufacturing problem, 95% of the PSP sold look like the picture I posted and the rest are the defects with the button slightly out of place which could have happened during manufacturing.
At any rate I'm sure this was just PR by Kutaragi, he knows things need to be fixed. He was arrogant for not saying it but thats business. I'm sure they will probably silently change or fix the design, work out whatever manufacturing problems they have.
Every system launch has some kind of problems I'm sure everyone here knows that. I think people are just more mad about the manner in which Kutaragi handled this.
Anyhow no worries, I have my pre-order and I intend to pick up my PSP at launch as planned.Comment

Re: Gamers return PSP!!! DESIGN FLAW
I believe this will be fixed over time. I'll be getting one of these still. The things the PSP will be able to do is amazing.
Some news from Gamespot regarding the Wifi internet...
There's an explination on what a recently filed patent by Sony contains. It's really exciting and basically what it says is that the PSP supports PS3 graphical intense games. How?
The PS3 in your house or nearby processes the game and sends the video and sound wirelessly over the air to the PSP. So, the only thing the PSP processes is the video/audio stream and your interaction(button presses). This enables you to play PS3 games on your PSP. Amazing.
Oh, yeah you can now pre-order PSP bundle at EB or Gamespot.
