The simulation gaming community is growing at a astonishing rate.

People who play these sim games are streaming them or making videos of them for YouTube and have huge followings.

I watched a guy play this game and it's actually pretty cool looking.

People are drawn into the "jank" that these games provide for some reason.

I think a lot of it is people who either do these things in real life or have always wanted to do these things. Like the train simulators, there are tons of people out there who have always wondered what it would be like to be a train engineer. Now these games are being shown to a wider audience because of the rise in game streaming.

I mean you got everything out there. Drug dealing sim, police sims, farming, mowing, fishing, train sims, flight sims. There are large groups of people into all those things. So now it's growing so fast because of the ease of access to watch people play these games.

And I also think more and more people are starting to prefer watching people play a certain game than playing it themselves.

A lot of them are also just randomly very fun. I remember first playing Euro Truck Simulator, and crashing into everything I could for the first hour or so, then I needed repair, so I finished the job I had taken and got some repairs, but needed more so I took another job, and after 8 hours I was on my way to building a trucking empire.

These types of games are different and fun because you are tackling problems mentally which isn't something you do in too many games. It's not about having stick skills or having cat like reflexes. Games like this, the truck sims, car mechanic, etc. allow you to relax and unwind, but stay mentally stimulated in a healthy way that keeps you coming back for more.

I also think it is large in part because all of us kids who grew up in the 80s and 90s with video games are now getting into our 30s and 40s. It's simply natural for our brains to crave more and more mental stimulation from games over playing the more twitchy skill based games we grew up playing. We're a big demographic in the gaming industry and it's why these games have a place.

Sure, millions of kids are coming into the industry every day and they play games like Fortnite and the likes, but there's still a huge population of gamers that have been gaming for 3 or 4+ decades now and crave these types of games.

This. I play Train Sim World or whatever it's called. I downloaded the demo for lawn mowing simulator. Fishing simulator. Hunting as well. Farming simulator is another one that gets alot of time from me. Because of exactly what you've posted. It's a nice way to "experience" things we would really do, or not. It's actually relaxing. Train sim world can be that too. Just riding along, with a few things to do here and there. I don't care for much on TV anymore aside from sports. I can't always bothered to play a game that requires a ton of skill etc. I dont really have the time in life anymore to perfect my skills at Madden, or Halo or something else to play online, and I can't typically be bothered to play online anyways because it feels like a complete disaster most of the time with either cheaters, or people who just spend way too much time playing, or paying to play etc. etc. So games like these are nice to have just to unwind sometimes. You're still occupied and stimulated, you dont have to give alot of effort or input, it's not filled with "stressful" situations. You just cruise around on a tractor, or truck, or boat, or.. now lawnmower. Its a different kind of rewarding experience. In most of these games "career" modes you're trying to build an empire really. Earning cash, buying better equipment etc. etc. It's like a mobile game, but more engaging and no need to spend 4.99 on packs and perks. You just play and grind and enjoy building.

As I said, I downloaded the demo for this one. It was actually decent; but not for me. Just found it would get boring quick and with small mowers it was pretty time consuming.

I'm watching a Twitch stream of the game right now. I'll be buying it before the night's over.
