    Re: Saints Row Reboot

I agree with the WD2 vibe, thought so too. But you know what? If you like open world games with living breathing worlds more than you care about the story, we should be lucky to get a game like WD2.

I agree about the characters, but this game needs to attract younger fans as well, so I understand why they took that route. But hey - a gang with huge guys who are into muscle cars? Yes please!

As long as the city is fun and alive, and you can have non-stop action outside of missions as well as semi-realistic driving/damage model - count me in!

Now, I still need to see what it looks like on the PS4, as this is the system I play on.
    My Specs:

    ZX Spectrum
    CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
    GPU: Monochrome display
    RAM: 48 KB
    OS: Sinclair BASIC

Here's the thing as a long time fan of the series we've seen them do this already before with SR3 and SR4. They added Superpowers to the franchise man and now they're doing it again.

As an old fan of the series it's like walking through your old neighborhood and seeing it become gentrified.

        Re: Saints Row Reboot

There's no more cruise control in the Saints Row reboot, but Volition has added that vehicles now form part of a player's arsenal.

Saints Row Changes Up Its Car Combat For The Reboot...

It’s all built on a brand new game engine too, rather than trying to expand on the bones of the one used for 2020’s Saints Row: The Third Remastered.

        Interesting info here-

        Gameplay tomorrow!!!

          New video -

I was hoping to see more gameplay, hopefully this still coming. So far the world looks really good, hopefully we get to see the more urban/dense areas soon. Vehicles look good as well.

Apparently people are up in arms because it's too serious in tone. As long as the game is good, who cares how serious it is?

I thought the complaints were by fans of the first 2 games thinking the youngster characters are not serious enough...

Either way, I think it will be OK. I don't care about the characters/story in open world games as much as I care about the world and gameplay.

You got it the other way around. People are angry because it's not like the old Saints Row. They've even managed to anger the fans of SR3 and SR4 which I didn't think would be possible. Congrats volition you've accompished to make SR1, SR2, SR3, and SR4 fans unite together and hate this reboot.

                They went from this

                To that...

                ugh....

Nothing about this reboot screams serious either like at all imo a group of college age hipsters decide to turn to crime to pay off their student loans? seriously? They got Steve Urkel as part of the Saints now. Also they're disrespecting their own fans on twitter.

This has a watchdogs 2 vibe. The characters come off like they would be nerdy hackers. Doesn't have the saints row feel to it.

                    Re: Saints Row Reboot

Judging by the trailers and little bit of gameplay released so far, one thing set this game apart from previous games.

I always thought of SR games as more like AA+ than AAA games - sub-par graphics and animations, average vehicle design and overall lower production quality (I didn't play the first game, though). With the effort put into SR3R it looks like the develooers have upped their standards. And now with the reboot it looks like the same thing. And assuming the game would be in development for 4.5 years - it's much better than the usual 2-3 years.

I'll take a more polished open world game over a less polished game with better story/characters. Keep in mind that I'm not a traditional fan of the classic SR formula. Would be nice to have to old character formula, but give me a more polished open world game and I'm happy.

                      Re: Saints Row Reboot

It does appear the few clips we've seen from the actual game indicate that we will be going back to NPC pedestrians doing their own things like in Saints Row 1/2. You used to see people doing all sorts of activities like yoga, streakers, cheerleaders practicing, etc. Once the series went to 3 and on things like that were removed for whatever reason. Most people didn't realize, but even in 3 and 4 we no longer had a day/night cycle. That's been confirmed to be coming back by Volition.

I'm anxious to see more from the game. I'm desperate for the series to return to something that isn't what 4 and partially what 3 became. I don't exactly need this game to be a hardcore gang simulator that's completely nitty gritty, though I would probably enjoy that a lot. I simply don't want a game that was as insanely over the top of your gang becoming celebrities and then becoming president. The series lost its way a bit, obviously they are saying they are going back closer to their roots. An actual extended look at the game should make the game's theme a bit more clear.

It was the first thing I noticed. I'm glad it's back in.

It annoyed me on Spider-Man PS4 that your time of day was static with the previous mission that you played. Was that how SR3 did it? I can't remember.

It's been a bit since I played 3, but it felt like it was always night time in SR3 in free roam, but some missions would take place in daylight. I could be wrong, though. It may be similar to Spiderman where the last mission is wht the time stayed at.

The Saints Row twitter replied "Yes" to a tweet asking if the game would have a day/night cycle. Unless whoever runs the account it mistaken, it seems it is coming back.

You may be correct. I actually totally forget, and I got 100% in that game. I definitely know that nighttime was a thing though, haha.
