      Re: Kena: Bridge of Spirits

Played approximately 6 hours of Kena on hard difficulty.

      My impressions -

      - Absolutely stunning visually. Everything looks great, detailed and full of animations.
      - Combat and general gameplay is great. Very fluid and responsive. The exploration and platforming is good.
      - Collecting The Rot add a solid amount of depth to the combat. I’m at 29. Basic enemies aren’t all that tough while mid-bosses are more challenging. The bosses though are definitely a challenge. The Rot can help your attacks and allow you to gain back health by acquiring flowers in the area. You gain special attacks as you unlock and acquire them via the skill tree.
      - Music is real good and the voice acting is very well done.
      - Story and characters thus far is solid. I’m enjoying it as it’s keeping me entertained, interested and invested.
      - Pure relaxation. Playing through Kena, the world, vibe and tone just makes me completely relaxed while playing through the game. Simply a joy to play.

      - Remapping the buttons for the controller is a major negative for me because I can’t change the weak/strong attack buttons from R1/R2 to Square/Triangle as it conflicts with the throwing of bombs which makes no sense since it’s listed under “aiming” which requires you to hold the L2 button which means that the conflict shouldn’t be happening. With that said, I haven’t acquired bombs yet so if I don’t have to hold down the L2 to aim and R2 to throw them, I can see why it’s a conflict. Won’t know for sure until I acquire the bombs. Either way, I really hate that so many melee focused games put the attacks on the shoulder/trigger buttons instead of the face buttons. Its annoying.
      - Swimming is fine but Kena swims slow and as far as I know, there’s no upgrade to swim faster. This is also annoying.
      - Rot Hat Currency. Vast majority of chests that I have opened have either been a new Rot Hat or currency that’s used to buy Rot Hats. I would have liked better rewards.
      - Skill Tree is very minimal and basic. Fits the game well but compared to other games, it’s non-existent.

Those are my impressions thus far. Overall, really enjoying the game as my negatives are minor even though I do wish I could change the button configuration to the way I want it. Will continue playing tomorrow.

So just started tonight played for like 2 and a half hours or so and loving it so far. Very relaxing and good music. Combat is fun and challenging on hard I have died a lot already. The graphics are pretty crazy second game this gen felling like you are playing a Pixar movie joining ratchet and clank rift apart. Very impressive considering this is the studios first game they have ever made.

For a first try at making a game so far so good. The animation is great as it should be as the developer started as an animation studio. I like that it's not open world but has multiple paths sometimes. Read that it's only 10-12 hours long maybe 15 for a completionist run. I'm totally fine with that though not every game needs to be 100+ hours. Overall happy I pulled the trigger on this.

First attempt at using photo mode.

Game is fun, only encountered one bug so far that made start all over from the beginning. I feel by the time the actual disc version comes out, it will be over looked and overshadowed by the heavy hitters such as COD and Battlefield.

I had 2 odd bugs in just a few minutes last night. I had 1 where it wouldn't let me move and when I got hit it wouldn't kill me I had to go back to games man menu. Then had a bug a few minutes later where I died like right when I killed a boss and then when it loaded up it put me into like a first person glitch view.

Several fixes with today's patch. I got stuck in the spirit mask once, so glad to see that fixed.

                • Enabled photo mode when sitting with the Rot.
                • Increased maximum camera sensitivity.
                • Fixed bug that locked player into the Spirit Mask mode.
                • Fixed progression blocker after combat in Taro’s Tree region.
                • Fixed progression blocker after receiving the Bow Ability.

                  Re: Kena: Bridge of Spirits

                  Just finished this.

Overall a really solid game. Wasn't a huge fan of the combat it was a bit off. I enjoyed the puzzle aspect a lot more so I turned it story mode. The grunts became fairly easy to dispatch but the boss fights while easier were a bit tough if you didn't have the timing down.

Story was was fairly straight forward Pixar-ish but the game looks beautiful the Rot hopping around are cool. I'll probably go back through and find all the Rot and Rot hats and various other side bits to collect. Likely to end up one trophy shy of the platinum just because I'd need to complete it on Master difficulty. I think the other trophies are easy enough.

If I had to give it a letter grade: B

Just beat the game last night really cool end of the game. Pretty impressive what this studio was able to do for the first game. Looking forward to see what this studio does next.

                      Re: Kena: Bridge of Spirits

First game in a while like this that I played through solo and finished the game, and I enjoyed it.

The look and style of the game was awesome. Boss fights were sometimes difficult and took some learning of their moves in order to time counters. Overall it wasn't unfair.

After the second mask, it seemed to drag a little bit for me as I was essentially using same moves and got through the basic monsters where they were on repeat.

My major gripe is I felt the controls and responsiveness especially for the triggers and bumpers were quite off at times causing some frustrating experiences throughout boss fights.

All in all, I'd recommend it for retail price and if it drops to a 20$ spot a definite buy and play through.

I'd give it around 78-84. The graphics and artstyle were awesome, the game was solid and complete, it presented a good challenge. It tended to drag a little for meand after the initial skills are u locked there wasn't much more that did anything from gameplay standpoint. I don't see myself playing through again but very glad overall I did get to experience this for one playthrough.
