    Final Fantasy creator joins Microsoft

    Hironobu Sakaguchi

"Sakaguchi-san has taken role-playing games — traditionally a niche market — and introduced them to a broad and diverse audience across the globe," said Peter Moore, corporate vice president of Worldwide Marketing and Publishing at Microsoft. "We are ecstatic to work with Sakaguchi-san and celebrate what this news means not only for Xbox, but for gamers worldwide."

"I'm excited about the two epic game titles we will be developing," Sakaguchi said. "A number of talented creators have signed on to help develop these games, and I'm confident we will be able to create games that provide gamers with a new kind of thrill.

"Microsoft's cutting-edge technologies in the next-generation platform will allow me to bring to life an array of ideas that I have had for many years," Sakaguchi said. "I want these games to be alive with a new vision for gaming and vividly depict new characters that will transcend the game, find a place in the hearts of gamers, and make time spent with my games a fond and long-lasting memory."

Sakaguchi left the FF series after 7(at least when it came to direct involvment) - Which would suggest that, he has been involved in anything that was so great about Final Fantasy(the first 7 chapters).

Two RPG's are being developed for the Xbox 2.

I liked all of the FF games for the PSone and two.

I also liked Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. Still, it's a good move by Microsoft.

Interesting. I loved Chrono Trigger and the older Final Fantasies. I must ask though, did he help develop VII or did he leave before that?

Because that's the one I like best -_-. Xbox2 or PS3... Man this is getting HARD now!

Good move, but don't look too much into it the FF games will still be made on PS. Hes making original games for MS thats about it. This should help them a "bit" in Japan but they still have a long way to go in the land of the rising sun.

Really nice addition for their game line up. Apparently this guy took the composer and the artist (Amano) from the classic FF games with him to this new studio.
