    New Mafia in development

    https://kotaku.com/mafia-4-release-d...rts-1848883555

Haden Blackman leaves, it's going to be made in unreal engine 5 but it will be a prequel. Happy that guy left I didn't like what they did with Mafia III but do not like that it's going to be a prequel.

My guess is that it takes place in the 20s, during the rise of the American Mafia. Great Depression, the start of Prohibition, character is probably gonna just be coming home from WW1.

Great Depression wasn’t in the 20s that was in the 30s.

I still wished they would have done a better job of remastering Mafia 2, thats the one i wanted to play. I didn't play the definitive edition. I can see the Definitive edition eventually coming to PS Plus or PSNow.

I didn't care for the direction of Mafia 3. My mind is foggy on the series, but the first two was based around the same time period, which was what roughly 50s. Third was present time. I wouldn't mind something between late 70s-early 80s. Maybe based in California

You're right, I got it mixed up with everything leading up to the actual Stock Market Crash itself.

My overall point still stands. That era would make the most sense, since the first game takes place towards the end of Prohibition.

The first game was the early 30s, second was late 40s/early 50s, and the third was in 1968.

              Thanks wasn't sure.

But, still wouldn't mind something based in the early 80s based in California

I’d prefer 1970s Las Vegas. I can live with the 1920s prohibition theme but would prefer 70s Vegas. Anything earlier than the 1920s would be the black hand era and I really don’t want that.

I would like that as well. And anything after the late 80s, doesn't have as strong of mafia impact as the 20s-80s.

I just hope that it’s open world. I can’t take another linear Mafia game. Mafia 3 was open world but failed because they didn’t know what they were doing. Hopefully they learned some lessons along the way.

I liked Mafia Remake and Mafia II but Mafia III is my favorite of the three. The story/characters/voice acting and soundtrack were superb in my opinion. Gameplay/combat was solid but not great. The biggest negative was the fact that it was open world. If it was linear when doing missions but still in an open world, it would have been better. Would have preferred Mafia IV to be a sequel to III since it kinda ends on a cliffhanger.

                        Re: New Mafia in development

The Mafia remake was done amazingly well. Mafia III had everything going for it except for the AI and some repetition due to being rushed.

If they can build off of what III did and what the remake of the original built on that, then it will be a great game. I hope for open world also. I do wish it was the 70s Vegas that was rumored before, but that seemed to have been scrapped after III's mediocre success.

Hopefully the remake bought the series some goodwill and this coming game has a great launch and we see the series continue forward. I'll be curious to see how UE5 feels. I thought the engine they had been using was a great fit for the series and it was showcased well in the remake, but UE5 has some crazy graphical power. If they can get the feel of the gameplay down, I don't doubt the game can match the quality of the remake.

I hope they take their time and understand that M2's standards should be the starting point, not M3's.Hopefully with a different leadership they can make a better product this time around.

October 1929 if we’re being technical.

Anyone have any success on getting Mafia Definitive Edition to play on the PS5. It does not even show up in the PS Store for me.
