Game is challenging. The block system is kind of weird and take some time to get use to. The whole atmosphere give me Dead Space vibes. The death scenes are brutal but funny at the same time.

The Callisto Protocol
I keep hearing people complaining about the combat (primarily the dodge and block mechanics) but I found them to be rather intuitive and haven’t had any struggles yet.
You don’t need to pick left or right based on where they enemy attacks from and will dodge as long as you press either before the attack hits. And when you need to dodge multiple tiles simply alternate between left and right. Just remember to never dodge the same direction twice.
Pulling back on the left stick will block the attack, but you will lose some health, so dodging is best.

Re: The Callisto Protocol
So I found a fix the brightness bug. If you have a LG OLED, turn fine tune dark to -16. If you have a Sony OLED, turn black level to 35. Game look 100 times better now and not all washed out like it does by default since they have yet to fix that brightness bug in the game.Comment

Re: The Callisto Protocol
You know what, if your character could actually run, you could run past all the mutants in the game. But your character moves like a sloth when you try to run, change guns, reload guns, heal. Like everything he does is in SLOW MOTION. It is annoying. But yet the mutants can run and are just faster then you with everything they do. The manual save system don't seem to work properly either.Comment

Re: The Callisto Protocol
I've been stuck on the train ride mission for hours. One of these worse enemy fighting location ever made. I can't even make it to the boss fight part, I constantly get killed on the 4th wave of mutants. This mission really shows off how bad the combat system is in this game. It is just too one sided. You don't have enough of anything for the amount of enemies you are facing.
Now I know why everybody was complaining about this mission on Steam and Reddit. It is just insanely difficult for no legit reason. I mean I am already playing on the easiest difficulty level, but their easiest is like everybody else game hard setting.Comment

Re: The Callisto Protocol
Finally made it past that insanely difficult part. Good lord that was annoying as hell. Also this part seem to be randomly bugged as well. Like some times all your ammo just get cut in half or all of it just disappears. Some times your player will just randomly stop moving and try to melee attack even when you don't want that to happen.Comment

Re: The Callisto Protocol
Finished the game the other day on minimum security difficulty. Took just over 15 hours. Below is my short review that I have spoiler tagged. Doesn't reveal plot points or anything like that and is more based on the negatives I had with the combat and gameplay. Despite the negatives I had, I did enjoy the middle section immensely and do hope for a sequel and that Striking Distance learns from their mistakes and improves upon them.
SpoilerOverall, it's the visuals and audio that carry the game in my opinion. Story and characters kept me interested but it's nothing special. Combat/gameplay is the weakest aspect of the game, at least for me. Even on easy, the difficulty spikes were bad especially near the end, the dodge mechanic is horrible, takes literally 5+ seconds to heal yourself using a health injector, boss fights were disappointing especially since they repeat and don't change until the very end. The camera is worse than the dodging mechanic because it's just way too freaking close at all times and when fighting the bosses, trying to run which your character barely does (I mean seriously, I can walk faster in reality) and trying to get a good field of view is just a huge pain.
Below are my ratings for each category and overall rating. I have spoiler tagged this as well because you can obviously see what were the strengths and weaknesses for me personally. If you clicked on the spoiler tag above, then you're fine.
Spoiler
1. Graphics - 10/10 (superb)
2. Audio - 8.5/10 (great)
3. Gameplay/Combat - 6.5/10 (above average)
4. Story/Characters - 7.0/10 (good)
5. Overall - 8.0/10 (great)

Re: The Callisto Protocol
Finally beat this game. It pissed me off the entire time.
Graphics - I give it an 8. On default everything is just white washed. I had to change some settings on my OLED to make it look good.
Audio - 8. At times the audio cuts out, at least it did for me on the final boss fight.
Gameplay - 5. The combat system is just flat out terrible. The game don't do a good job of explaining all of the controls either. On top of that, just a lack of variety of locations and bosses. Like seriously, you fight 1 boss 4 times and another boss 2 times. The boss fights really just exposes how terrible the combat system is in this game. Add to that, a severe lack of resources until the final boss fight.
Story - 6. I hate games where you semi sort of have a companion, but in reality you don't because you always end up having to go the long way around by yourself because a door magically locks behind them or a walkway collapses. After the first 3 times, it just became highly annoying. It wasn't until the very end right before the final boss fight did the story actually get interesting for me.
Overall - 6 out of 10. Maybe my expectations was just too high for this game. The terrible horrible combat system added to my misery. Atmosphere was good, graphics was good after you tweak your TV settings. But the combat and lack of a good story, mission design and boss variety just holds this game back big time.
Like way even give you multiple guns if you can't even max them out if you build base type ? That was annoying too. Just not enough money in the game to really do what you want to do. Add to that, you get this awesome glove of power, but yet said glove don't even work against bosses. So like what the hell ? I also didn't like how bosses and heavy enemies were ultra spongey either.Comment

Re: The Callisto Protocol
Yeah, I think the audio slaps a$$ and the graphics are sick as well, but everything else just feels a little behind. I didn't expect a Dead Space 4 so that's not why I'm bummed, but the combat just feels very same-y throughout, and then just unfair at parts for no reason. Beyond that, the guns and such all feel the same as well and the approach to spooks feels like an afterthought most of the time beyond the jump scare so it's really just an action game in a somewhat creepy setting.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). Re: The Callisto Protocol
It seems to me when a few people say a game is terrible, everyone automatically agrees. I will give an unpopular opinion. I think CP is awesome. Outstanding graphics, great audio, perfect length, and personally, I really enjoyed the combat and story. Good job by Striking distance studios.Comment

Re: The Callisto Protocol
So apparently the patch they released on Thursday fixed the combat and made the boss fights more fair. In the confirmed findings:
made reloading faster
made healing faster
made changing weapons faster
made Jacob baton swings quicker
manual saves actually work nowComment
