I think I mentioned this earlier in the thread ...but if you are not afraid of being a total geek....you can bring your map to kinko's...have them enlarge it a little and laminate it.
You can then use a grease pencil to make your marks...and erase them when you are done.
I'm FAR from being ready in this game to go head to head or team up with someone...but I'll be up for it sooner or later!

i'm far from ready too, but I'd be willing to do it just for fun, as long as people realize I'm not great

never thought of the kinkos thing...i suppose you could enlarge it to a certain map width that's similar to what you use in game, and then use that instead...I'm actually going to grab the graph paper myself and run with that for a bit...I spent around 15 minutes setting up a course on a carrier tonight, and it worked out well...nothing like the feeling of a great plan working out

Re: Silent Hunter III goes gold

I'm feeling ready to start a career with realistic firing solutions. I redid the torpedo tutorial a few times only using manual entry on the TDC. I think I now have the hang of it as I got a hit on every shot I took the last time through. Very fun. it's not an exact science and adds to the realism of the game...trying to find the range on a target when your periscope is bobbing up and down Throw in an estimate on the AOB, decide on torpedo depth, and running speed, give everything a final check and adjust aim, and let her rip!

One thing I found that was messing up nearly all of my manual TDC torp shots, you need to open the torpedo doors in advance of firing. Otherwise you get a delay when pressing the fire button which is many times enough to make your shot miss. Once I got that figured out, it's not that hard to get firing solutions on targets 500 - 1000 meters away that actually go where planned.

then it's just getting 500-1000 meters away that's the problem...not always that easy, I'm sure I'll find that out tomorrow when running manual torpedos

quick question on manual torpedos...I set the range, speed, and AOB, but I when I try and click the check box it won't stay checked...hasn't been an issue, I can still fire the torpedos, but didn't know if it's supposed to stay checked somehow, or if I'm missing something

That originally happened to me but then I downloaded patch 1.1 and it dissappeared.

                          There is a patch already?
                          What issues does it address?
