    Re: Star Wars Outlaws

Looks like I'm going to use a combination of 70% trusting my gut and 30% reviews on this one. With that in mind I think I'll be picking this one up. Massive Entertainment are the team behind this, they did both The Division game and Far Cry 3. If nothing else the world building should be great and if the story is on par with most SW movies (which aren't story masterpieces to begin with) then it's good enough for me.

Star Wars fandom and hardcore Ubisoft haters are a interesting bunch alone put them together and it's a s***show. Certain sections of the internet were trashing this game soon after it was announced for no other reason but a weird that hatred for all things ubisoft and being crazy protective of SW. So I can't trust the general internet public to much on this one.

That bit of criticism is a bit disingenuous.

The criticism leveled at Ubisoft that was so widespread that even Ubisoft responded to it was in regards to their pricing and season pass. Which was not uniquely unpopular because of the Ubisoft logo next to the game's title, but it was unique in that it was locking day 1 single player story content behind a paywall (content around an iconic SW character to boot). If that has happened before then there are not many examples of it, but even less extreme examples from other companies have been similarly criticized. I believe that the $110 price tag of the Gold edition versus the industry standard $100 was also a point of contention.

The above may not impact the quality of the game, but I think that it's always important to acknowledge the reason behind criticism before just dismissing it as nonsensical.

I'm not speaking about that particular incident which is a fair criticism. Unless I'm mistaken, the specifics of the games day 1 content being paywalled came later. I'm speaking about the announcement that Ubisoft was working on a Star Wars game and immediately getting hate. So for now I'm standing by my initial statement.

          Enjoyed your take on this. I agree with you about how over the top the anger is however;

Add us Star Trek fans who are upset with Ubisoft in which the way they treated/abandoned Flight Deck. I've let up a bit and getting Outlaws but don't discount the numbers they've mostly pissed off and the bitter taste I had when preordering.

What and when was the Star Trek game supposed to come out. I've always been pretty tuned into game announcements but that one passed me by.

Ah I don't remember that. Maybe people just already assumed the price point problems

But yeah I agree that is absurd. I'm not a fan of their business practices, but hating on an announced title simply because its them is a bit silly. Healthy skepticism, but I would reserve judgement.

Apologies, it was Bridge Crew. Came out in 17. Used voice commands and played co-op with others. It was awesome experience in gaming. Then Ubisoft shut it down

Can anyone answer the following question?

On Xbox series X, the pre order button for gold edition says Aug 26th, 9pm. Does this mean that I have to pre purchase BEFORE the aforementioned date and time for the early access (tonight at midnight) to be available? If so, I'm about to be highly upset lol because it was approximately 9:30 pm when I pre purchased it ! I was ready to stay up tonight and try it out.

To my knowledge you purchase it whenever. Anyway it came out tad bit early on PC. Played it for a little bit. Beautiful looking game. A lot of mini games that thankfully you can turn off.

Yea, just downloaded and played for a bit. Looks and feels pretty good 👍🏽. I haven’t done much, I’m simply gambling on the horse races right now.

3 Hours in and I'm enjoying it only bug I have encountered on My Series S is the sound cuts out every so often.

The gameplay has been smooth and the world's are bright and plenty to do.

                        Solid 8/10.

Okay, played a few hours now.

Overall, it is a fun game. Graphically, it's pretty. Gameplay is questionable in some areas (stealth) but good in almost any other. You know, honestly, my only complaint probably is stealth, lol.

So far I'm sitting at a 8/10. The stealth factor is honestly my only negative. Loving the life, loving the overall gameplay, enjoying the views. Enjoying just watching some areas.

Patch Notes! Not sure what the egregious ones mean. Is this the launch patch or is it new?

Releasing right now on PS5, PC and Xbox Series, the Star Wars Outlaws 1.000.002 Patch Notes claim to address numerous issues. Alongside a move to fix the game’s more egregious bugs, new features are also added in this updated.

Coming in at a hefty 8.59GB, the new Outlaws patch adds in the game’s advertised 40fps mode. However, on PS5, this mode does require your console to be set to 120Hz VRR output to be enabled.

Star Wars Outlaws 1.000.002 Patch Notes have been released, aiming to fix huge issues with the new Ubisoft game

The climbing, takedowns, swinging on stuff remind of Assassin's Creed. The shooting, straight out of Red Dead Redemption 2. Even have that build up your power, mark multiple enemies and take them out in rapid succession like RDR2 had. I am having a blast. Only 1 crash so far, but other than that, very smooth gameplay.
