    Skull & Bones

Skull and Bones is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Singapore and published by Ubisoft. The game is set to be released in February 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Amazon Luna, and Microsoft Windows. A version for Google Stadia was planned before the service's shutdown.[2] The game revolves around piracy and naval warfare with a fantastical setting in East Africa and Southeast Asia during the late 17th century, the peak of the historical Golden Age of Piracy.

Tons of mixed reviews on the Beta so far.

Most people have simply called it boring.

For me, it's another one that's fun with friends, and I'll never play it without them unless they add a lot of content.

Played some last night since I have Uplay+ and the full version released already for the premium edition. Game is alright. Remind me of Black Flag without boarding and hand to hand combat. I don't get why so many people call it boring. It is a pirate game, what are they expecting ? You can play solo, co-op and PVP if you want to.

Man I ran into a monster in the northern part of the map. Look like a giant gator. Destroyed my ship and I lost all my loot. Every time I tried to go back to the area to recover my loot, one hit and I was destroyed again. Going to avoid that area for a while LOL. Having a blast with this game.

So I was pretty much at the coast of the West Indies when an escort mission popped up. I agreed to it, not realizing it would take me back across the other side of the map like 13,000 miles away. Half of that was during a bad storm with rogue waves which traveling very slow. Anyway we are at the shoreline, about 100ft away, but the entrance to the dock is narrow with many mountains on both sides of it and there is this ship just parked right in the entrance not moving. So I am thinking let me slide around it and maybe the ship that I am escorting will slide behind me.

Well a gust of wind kicked up and sent me crashing into the park ship, boom, ship think I attacked it and now is attacking me, escort mission over. I was so pissed. Killed that little ship and the ship I escorted it. I was thinking I didn't do all this not to get paid, somebody going to pay me one way or another. This game is blast. I opened up the black market, running rum all over, fun times.

I have 50 hours in this game and still haven't beaten it yet. Finally reached king pin level last night.

Still enjoying it? It's something I want to pick up eventually, I'm just tied up with other games at the moment. I always enjoyed the betas when I participated in them even if it didn't approach the genre the way I was hoping it would.

Oh I love it. The storyline is actually pretty decent. Some might hate the grind and hate there is no hand to hand combat. For me though, I like the simplistic approach of you are a pirate and all pirate related things is kept at sea on the boat.

I think some people were just expecting PVP all over the map. I am glad it isn't that way and there is an actual storyline with plenty of side quests.

A little over 70 hours in and the game is finally beaten. The final boss is glitched as hell and it makes ZERO sense for him to be as powerful as he was considering his ship level was like around 7 or 8 but yet my ship was at level 11. Had to beat it TWICE because the mission is so buggy and glitchy. Despite this, I enjoyed the game, I give it a 8 out of 10.

The story was good throughout. Plenty of side quests. Several world events that you can join and take on if you want.

I don’t think folks were expecting PVP across the map. Well, atleast I wasn’t and of course I can only speak for myself. I think the general sentiment was that there is a lack of ship boarding, which, like you stated, the game is “all pirate related things at sea on the boat”, and they completely omitted that. Glad you liked it, however, devs dropped the ball on this one man.

This game is the biggest disappointment in a long time. I didn’t hope that it would be normal, but in the end, it was just some kind of horror. Ubisoft has never stooped low before and called it an AAAA project. Even online games from playhop are better.

Some video clips from the PC version. The game is great if you focus on the ship to ship combat. I view it as a ship combat simulator more than a pirate simulator.

Skull & Bones has that dark, thrilling vibe that makes me think of fantasy games wither into something more realistic and gritty. ⚓️ Honestly, it even gives off a cool Halloween games energy—pirates, storms, and that eerie atmosphere fit perfectly with spooky-season gaming!

Game had potential, but no joy on that. I was waiting for giant ship battles, ship boarding, swashbuckling sword combat, easter egg DLC characters like Davy Jones (from pirates of the caribbean), etc. No brainer stuff imo. Not sure what the devs were seeing? This game would still be going to this day if my list would've been executed on, no debate !!! There is a severe lack of vision with some of these dev teams out here I tell ya.
