The more I hear about this game, the more it sound like it will be the RPG of the decade. Sound like they went all out and covered a lot of bases.

Just to a bit of a potential warning about any early reviews that you see.

There is a bit of controversy that popped up over the weekend that some reviewers who expressed early criticism (after early hands on experience from Bioware) did not receive codes for review copies. These aren't people with like 600 subs on their youtube channel either. Impossible to say if they were intentionally excluded or not, but it's worth noting for anyone who is on the fence and waiting for reviews.

People who don't receive codes say this about every game. Said it for Madden, NBA 2K, Hogwarts, Star Wars Outlaws. It is a never ending cycle.

Maybe. You hear smaller youtubers cry foul like that, but this has been more wide spread than I'm used to seeing. Possible that it's still a case of that, but I'm not so quick to dismiss it in this scenario.

I started hearing some grumblings at the beginning of the weekend that seemed to grow and grow. Today Fextralife put out a video detailing their own experience. They claim that they were in communication with EA/Bioware with promises of a review copy but after some some "mild criticism" on a early hands on preview that EA/Bioware communication dried up, and they talk about some other large channels reporting similar experiences.

I would tell people to take it with a grain of salt either way, but it at least has the appearance of being outside of the norm.

I pre-ordered this game without hesitation. I love all 3 previous titles.

I have zero doubt this will be the best yet.

                      Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard

It doesn't shock me that early review copy access would be limited for Veilguard, given that it's a traditional single player game with (as far as I know) no post-launch monetization.

That would mean that first-week sales are going to be the dominant factor for how this game performs commercially (as historically is the case for AAA games without a live service component). Given that, the publisher surely wants word-of-mouth about the game to be as strongly positive as possible so the game sells as many copies as possible based off hype.

It's just the way the game is played. Yes it's manipulative, but also BioWare spent a lot of money to make this game and surely would like to keep the lights on so they can make another Dragon Age game. Withholding early review code also doesn't really mean anything one way or another with respect to game quality; Bethesda rather infamously withheld review codes for DOOM (2016) following a not-well-received multiplayer test, and that game was a damn banger.

Couple of hours in, the game is good. PC version, the graphics are good. Combat flows nicely. So many options. Probably one of the most customizable games I ever played.

This is one of those games I got early, I've already beaten it but really enjoyed it and will be doing a 2nd playthrough -- a quick review

Chase you need and owe it to yourself to go back and play Dragon Age Origins, DA 2 and Dragon Age Inquisition.

It’s a fantastic series and you will enjoy it immensely.

Maybe go ahead and do it in reverse order and play Dragon Age 3 next which is a massive game in it’s own right.

I did try out Inquisition but bounced off it pretty quick, but yeah it's def on the to-do list.

I remember loving g DA2 even though the hardcore RPG guys hated it. Played inquisition but don’t think I finished. That was the era of every RPG having to be an open world monster like Elder Scrolls.

First DA I played and liked. But man, would be weird to go back to that game from Veilguard. A lot has changed.

Enjoying Veilguard a lot so far. It’s sorta nice to have these kinda streamlined RPGs that you don’t need to devote hours of learning too.
