I like these threads, gives a place to step back and assess.

What have I been playing and what am I looking forward to as of January 25?

Let’s see:

Been playing Undisputed boxing, Sackboy, and Spyro when I actually get to sit down and play something. I’ve been having great aspirations to sit down and get some CFB 25 in but for some reason it’s not happening (probably wife and daughter).

I purchased Star Wars Outlaws again and got some play time with that a few times this past couple of days, trying to force myself to deep dive into it lol.

Not too much on the horizon. Madden26, CFB26, & GTA come to mind. My next for sure purchase is Assassins Creed Shadows (this will definitely be my personal successor to the Tenchu series no doubt).

January Recap

Finished:
AstroBot - Really Enjoyed this. I didn't collect all the Bots may go back to clean that up but probably not. I'm just not a completionist type of game. One of the few PS5 games that I take advantage of the console.
SuperHot - This is an old game that I overlooked for years but picked it up on a whim. I loved it. Simple graphics but fun gameplay. This one reminded me why I love gaming.
Tekken 8 - This was my first Tekken game. Completed the story. Now I'm just trying to find a few characters to main. I don't care about fighting other humans so fighting their ghost is good enough for me.

Currently Playing:
Judgement - I originally started this back in February of last year but put it down for some reason. Jumped back in and really enjoying it. Taking it slow and playing it kind of like episode of a TV show.
A Short Hike - Nice "cozy/chill" game. Just something to play and chill with no pressure.

Currently Playing (Games with "No End")
Off the Grid - This is my multiplayer game. Met some cool people playing this one. Still in Early Access not sure if the devs will pull this off but it's a simple BR gameplay loop that I find fun.
Pro Yakyuu Spirits 24-25 - I swear I'm going to start season eventually. Still just playing through the daily moments from the 2024 season.
Tekken 8 - I'm committing to "get gud" at a fighting game. Law, Asuka, Raven are probably going to be the characters are focus on. The may not be the meta picks but I enjoy them.

Flintlock - I'm still trying to capture that Bloodborne feeling. Will not try any more Soulslike games unless it's a BB sequel or remaster. BB is the only FromSoft/Soulslike game that I have ever really clicked for me.

January Recap

Finished:

I love A Short Hike, such a cute game but still with enough depth that you can explore and poke around for an extended period if you want. And, yes, don't chase that Bloodborne high.

Not going to lie. I've been playing less video games lately and been spending more time building models which is another passion of mine. The games that I'll be purchasing 1st are the 4 games that I'll be carrying over from last year (Tennis Elbow 4, Arma Reforger, Metro Awakening, and NHL 25 when it comes out on game pass). I'm souring on the video gaming industry but that's another story. I'm not going away from it, but slowing down. There's still so many quality games to play in backlog and upcoming.

Love how many of you have detailed your list. Going to keep it short and sweet too. Started to take out some games off of this years 25 Gaming Wish List.

<li><b>War Thunder (PS5/PS4)</b>
Been playing since Jan 2014 and watched it go from its early beginnings to what it is today. There's so much offered that I've elected to only play daily (1-3 battles), so that I can play other games. Still, my favorite gaming player competition.

<li><b>Madden 25 (PS5)</b>
Best Sports Console Video Game for me this year and let the Jets rebuild begin! I waited for the DAdams trade to the Jets Roster, then started my Jets franchise. So I started late. Well, more like restarting. Problem? That set gave me the old and fading MVP QB, and the season went down along with him. He missed 7 games due to injury. Threw only 12 TD passes and had noticeable movement issues. Yes a disaster, and no playoffs that ended in a 7-10 season, and for me, watching the playoffs. So, going forward I'll watch the WC, DC, LC, and SB (Vikings vs Ravens). I'll take the off-season rebuilding this roster. It does have me pondering whether to get Madden26 which at the moment is a NO. Either way, as this season ends, another game gets to move in for more playing time.

<li><b>MLB 24 The Show (PS5)</b>
I'm spending way too much time than I should be. Reasons? Not going to jump in early like previous years. Just doing a rosters set for 2025. Problem is once I get started, I can't stop?! Yes, I have a problem

More like an experience than a game. Loving it!!

This was however, a disappointing release from the previous year

Borderlands 4 announced for Sept 23, I still don't have PS5, didn't even upgrade for College Football 25. My upgrade to PS4 was just for Borderlands 3. Might be time to scrape up some funds again lol (also, heard the movie was awful, who would've thunk Kevin Hart as Roland would be a bad idea?)

A small update for 2025.



Sports Games:

EA College Football 25: Casually continuing my Ohio State dynasty. Though, currently on pause.

WWE 2k24: I got this free in the fall and had been enjoying a modern day universe mode. I had been doing dynasty reports on it but I decided to stop the write ups. Currently on pause.


Honestly, I haven't played sports games too much this year as of yet. That may change down the road.


Non Sports Gaming


PC Gaming:

I have been rotating through a few PC games.

Factorio: With the Space Age DLC being released, this has gotten me back into this game.

Software Inc: My goal is to make it 80 years in the game and earn the steam achievement for that.

Farming Simulator 22: Continuing my long running farm.



Console Gaming:

Dragon Age The Veilguard (PS5): Still chugging along and enjoying it. Taking my time with it so I experience everything with my shield wielding warrior.

Next up: Final Fantasy VII Remake (in progress)

2025 Potential Purchases

Forza Horizon 5 (PS5): I recently learned about this after seeing it on the PS Store. I will definitely be picking this one up. Slated for a Spring release.

Pokemon Legends Z to A (Switch): Leaked that it will have a June release date. Excited because my youngest and I have bonded over Pokemon games in the last year and we will both get to start the adventure at the same time.

MLB 25 The Show (PS5): This is in the maybe slot still. The RTTS stuff was the first thing I have seen so far that has moved the needle. It will depend on what we see this week from the franchise stream this week. This will determine my 2025 baseball game plays. If I get it, I will do a RTTS and a 100 years of Guardians history franchise. If I decide against it, I will play a franchise in MLB 24.

Suikoden I & II HD Remaster (PS5): This releases soon so I am looking forward to this. I never got to play the original games so I am excited to get this.

February Recap

Finished:
A Short Hike - Didn't go finding all the little side items but still enjoyed it. A nice little diversion

Currently Playing:
Judgement - I go stetches without playing but the story is starting to ramp up. Think I'm in chapter 5. Not quite as into it as Yakuza 0 but still a good game.

Off the Grid - Still hanging in there.
Pro Yakyuu Spirits 24-25 - Started a season with the Orix Buffalo. Think I've played 5 or 6 games sitting in 2nd place in the division current. Fun learning all the players on the team. Don't know their names really but just what they look like.
Tekken 8 - Asuka has emerged as my main fighter now. Now that I've got that settled, I can really learn some moves. Once I can get consistent results against other players ghost I might try playing against an actual person. That might be a while though.

The only game I know I will buy is EA CFB 26.
