Re: CoV Next Week
I have been beta testing CoV for about a month or so. I do not think I will be getting CoV, I am just burnt out on the whole MMO and with holidays around the corner just no time. With the beta schedule they were on I didn't get to play CoV much. My highest toon was a lvl 10 brute. The atmosphere and music are nice. It just seemed to me it was the same game as CoH but with changes to archetypes and new skins/clothes. They renamed the archtypes but most use the same powers that were in CoH. There is no true healer or tanker though. Now, I only played the low levels so I do not know if the brute would start acting like a tanker by drawing aggro but the brute is more like a scrapper in CoH dealing more damage as his fury bar gets higher. If you have any questions just ask and I will try to answer. -
Re: CoV Next Week
Bought it, loving it. Played the hell out of EQ, DAoC, then some WoW, but this is my cup of tea. No powerleveling grind, no endgame looting/camping/crafting time sink madness, just fun. I've got a level 11 brute right now and after taking a break from CoH, this game has renewed my love for the MMORPG genre while allowing a non-powergamer like me to feel involved and active with the game despite playing over relatively short periods of time.
Just my $0.02. I know the game has its share of detractors and this installment won't do anything to change their minds. No game is for everyone, but this game is for me. To each their own!

Re: CoV Next Week
Bought it and I'm loving it (Big surprise right?) I currently have a lvl 17 Ninja Blade/Ninjitsu Stalker. This AT is totally different from regular scrappers. It kinda feels like playing a Splinter Cell/CoH hybrid. A stalkers HP are low, but massive damage is given out if stealth strikes are preformed.
Some of the powers are the same and some of the powers sets are different. The ATs are not the same. Dominators is an AT with controller powers in the primary, but they have blaster powers as their secondary. (More offensive controllers) Corruptors have blaster powers as their primary and defender powers as their secondary. (More offensive defenders) Brutes play like scrappers, but have higher hit points. Stalkers are totally different ATs that use the scrapper powers. Masterminds are another totally different AT. (If you ever wanted to play a controller that has lots of pets, but didn't want to wait to get to lvl 32, then this is the AT for you!)
Some missions are different. Robbing banks and escorting missions are some of the most noteworthy changes.
Injunwal,
If you are looking for something totally different, don't look at CoV. While the game plays different from CoH (as far as ATs go), the same depth is in the game (meaning not much). You will still only find yourself beating up guys all the time. CoV advertises a basebuilding feature, but you will only be able to use it with a SG. I know why you got burnt out on CoH, and I don't think CoV will be any different for you.
Good luck.Last edited by rheller; 11-02-2005, 11:09 AM.Comment
