      Silverlode server, I think Kesean and Norin are both on right now (they aren't OS guys but they can invite). I'll be on as Beregor for a little while longer.

              You can thank EQ for that as well. After that experience, people complained about level loss, night long corpse retrievals, etc.

              DAoC initially had xp loss with deaths, but over time that got reduced. At the start, SWG had corpse retrievals but the game was so buggy that peoples corpses were disappearing so they patched out corpse retrieval. Vanguard supposedly has corpse retrieval now, but I've read that they are already considering patching it out due to complaints.

              Pretty much, it's the age we've come to in MMOs. People want to have their hands held, they want to level fast, and they don't want any consequences when they die. It's the difference between having a huge player base (WoW) and barely staying in business.
