    Darkfall

Just wondering if anyone has tried this... Looks like something I could definitely get into (especially if you can get a good group rollin' together.)

Darkfall Unholy Wars - Official Website. Darkfall Unholy Wars is an intense full PvP MMORPG that combines real-time action and strategy in a fantasy setting.

From what I understand... It has player cities/ships, level skills not levels, full player pvp looting, mounts, fps pvp style with melee, bows and magic.

    Oblivion meets MMO?

I'm thinking about trying this (although the torrent will take forever with my crappy internet.) I have read reviews and have gathered that if you don't live PvP - Don't play. If graphics are a gamebreaker for you - Don't play.

Just curious if anyone else has seen this.

Did you give this a shot? I know I'm digging up an old post but they now have a 7 day trial for a dollar. They made a ton of improvements since launch and already had an expansion. I'm having fun with it so far.

      Re: Darkfall

I was in the Beta for it so my experience does not include the many patches they have issued to the game.

That being said, the game was a grindfest. I spent basically all of beta either watching a macro spam different skills (or manually doing them) to "level up".

If you don't like PvP don't play. Personally PvP is a requirement for me in any MMO, but the combat didn't seem particularly great (I can't comment on how it is at higher skill levels). Also when I played what I viewed as the best aspect (city sieges) had not yet been implemented.

Again though I only played beta, and I'm sure they have taken steps to correct a lot of these issues. It was just hard to stick with the game after I had been following it for so long and clearly needed another couple of months of development before beta.

Still though I had a couple of friends who played for a while who really liked it. They said they made leveling up skills a bit less tedious and implemented many of the key promises (city sieging, ship warfare, etc..).

If you are are a PvPer I'd say check it out. The only other MMO still on the market that I would say is PvP oriented would be EVE Online. Then Mortal and the Kotor MMO are the only ones in development that show any promise

Mortal is in a worse spot than Darkfall was at beta time.

Yeah, they increased skill gain times 6 on mobs but it's still a 2 month grind to be competitive..
