If you are like me you got bored with WoW years ago. I don't have the time for a full subscription anymore but I noticed this week that Everquest 2 was now free to play (with restrictions, of course.) I wanted to post this as I don't normally check out MMO sites all that often anymore but this was too good to pass up so I downloaded the client. There is just one server for Everquest 2 Extended (the free version) but the population seemed healthy in the starter zone which was a surprise. I think they only created this new server a couple of months ago. I just thought I'd give the small MMO fanbase here a heads up as I didn't know this existed but a free to play MMO on EQ2's scale is a pretty good value.

There is a subscription model kind of like xbox live. 15/month for gold, one time 10 dollar charge for silver, and then bronze is all free. Plus, you buy certain items for Station Cash and what not like unlocking a Race and so forth. I hope to put in a couple hours today. I'm Throes (a berserker) on the Freeport extended server as an FYI.Comment

Yeah, I got the Silver Account. Pay $10 once, then you can always buy classes, races, etc. as you see fit. Fun game, nice change of pace too.Comment

Yeah, an absolute steal of for only $10 if you don't need the gold features. I think I'm at level 10-11. Would recommend to an MMO fan who doesn't feel they have the time for the $15 a month sub.Comment
