    Care Package for Shortsoldier(Justin)

    Hey guys,
As most of you already know our own Shortsoldier is currently serving our country. Right now he is in Fort Lewis, WA, but soon he will be over in Iraq. I am starting to put a care package together for him. Here's what I want from you guys: I wan't everyone here to just write a little note for Justin. I will include all of the notes in with the package so he can read them. Shortsoldier is one of the most intelligent, thoughtful and gramatically perfect (Justin is a grammar freak) posters here. Show him that you care.

Also, if anyone who has experience at this type of thing...what types of things should I put in a care package?

***you can post the message right here or just PM it to me.****

Also, if you want to include any pics or anything else...just send them to me and i'll make sure he gets them. I'm not exactly sure on the date when I'll send it, but I'll probably wait until he gets into Iraq before I send it.

What a great idea. I would even consider throwing in a little money to get him something. I couldn't imangine doing what he is doing, so its the least I could do. Let me know, or I will watch the thread. Thanks.

-If he brought a portable DVD player then new movies are always a plus. If you are planning around Christmas time then there should be a few good ones out.

-If you are going to send him a little something to help him sleep at night then make sure you disguise it well. I can PM you with a few pointers.

-If he has a favorite candy or snack then send him those too. Jolly Ranchers were always my favorite. Some stuff is harder to score than others out there.

-Depending on his job (MP?) he may have access to the site. There are "internet cafes" set up at many of the bases out there. But still, personalized messages always mean a lot.

I'll post more as I think of it. I'm sure Jackdog could add a few things as well.

He is in a security company. I think he said he will have internet access and possibly a PS2/XBOX. He'll have his laptop, so I could still send him a movie or two.

can you let us know again closer when you'll send it? I'll throw you a message, but rather it be more recent (as opposed to writing it now)

There looks to be some good things on that site...

I think I'm also gonna send him a log of cope...he doesn't use it, but he can sell it for a mad profit over there.

I guess this got unstickied...Well, I got a call from Justin yesterday. He is shipping out to Kuwait today (12/4). 27 hour flight. He will spend about 2 months in Kuwait trainning before he goes on to his actual mission in Iraq. He will be in Iraq for about 12 months. He probably won't have internet access and definetly won't have a permanent address for 2 months. So that means no Christmas letters or presents or anything. So yeah...keep him in your thoughts.

Oh yeah, Justin wanted me to pass on his best wishes for everyone here.

I guess if you guys want to start posting messages now to Justin, you sure can.
