Any of you guys had/have knee injuries or problems

    Im experiencing some weird things.

Some weeks ago, if i sat down for a long period of time then tried to get up, my knee would be in pain and i'd have to limp a little bit until it wore off, although it didnt take too long.

That sort of stopped, but now its like, if i sit in a chair, and hold my knees close to my chest, I can see there is a small knot on the top outter part of my right knee that isnt on the left one.

Bending the knee has a minute amount of stiffness, but say i try to get up from the floor if im laying down, the stiffness and pain are there when i try that although not a great deal.

I can walk just fine, other times it hurts a small amount and i limp (although not much)

BTW, the lump that appears on the outter right knee when i bend my knee very soft. If I press on it, it doesnt hurt but it feels like im putting pressure on the knee.

Also, sometimes i feel like i need to pop my knee or fibula if that makes sense.

Any of these things sound familiar? It was the best way I can explain it. Im not very active right now, so I couldnt have injured it playing any sports.

Im emphasizing not too much pain and not too much stiffness because im trying to explain how it really feels.

Tried looking up Web MD references and symptoms but i cant pinpoint it there. Thanks for any help

I have a weird problem with my left knee. About 2 years ago I started working out on a rowing machine(which I highly recommend..great workout for the entire body) because I was getting a little out of shape. Worked out on it for about 6 months(grew 5 inches and got into great shape). However, now when I walk up or down stairs my left knee sounds like a socket wrench lol. Not sure why. And it doesnt hurt. So I just ignore it lol.

I get tendinitis and jumper's knee. I play basketball about 4-5 times at the Y per week so that may be a reason.

Same sort of thing happened to me while I was catching in High School, my knees gave me a lot of problems in the morning waking up the day after the game, my frame at the time was about 210-215 and I felt the need to constantly try and pop my legs because they felt like they were locked in place. Still get pain in my legs every once in a while, causing a slight limp when I work out hard. The worst part is my knees/legs still do lock up and I want to pop them. Once I stopped playing baseball the pain went away but how you are talking about your knee/legs sounds very similar to what I went through.

It sounds like you might have some synovial fluid build up. Since you say you didn't injure the knee playing sports it makes it really hard to zone in on what it is specifically. With the knee it could be so many things. Arthritis, tendonitis, the location makes it seem like it might be a meniscus injury.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

meniscus is between the two large leg bones correct?

Last summer i played bball once a week but i dont remember having a knee issue then.

Only other thing i could think of is when i was doing the stairs in my building at the job, but that was some time ago.

you are correct on the meniscus

Try some streching to get it loose. I would see a doctor if it keeps up. Knees can create problems even when you aren't doing anything. Once the damage is done, it will keep getting worse. It sounds like some fluid, which they could just drain, but something could be wrong causing it.

Husker9, I've had 3 surgeries from a grinding problem, first it was something that just gave me some problems every once in awhile, so I would watch it. If you can feel it grind by putting your hand on your knee cap and bending it, you might be grinding it and it will cause problems later.

                    Do you have flat feet?

Do your knees touch each other if you stand straight up and your feet are touching?

flat feet yes. I use inserts most of the time, but this is just one leg.

I suffer from the same thing. "Over-pronation", or flat feet can be treated with inserts, or a better term "orthotics" and also building up your quad muscles. My symptoms are swelling of the knees on the inside and top area of the knee along with feet pain.

I went to a Sports Medicine doctor and they made me some custom fit orthotics for my shoes by making a cast-mold of my foot and sending it off to a lab. They then suggested I build up the quad muscles in my leg. Felt like a miracle once I got those orthotics in. The over the counter Dr. Scholl's inserts are garbage in comparison.

Check this link for more information: http://www.aafp.org/afp/991101ap/2012.html

Your situation is quite common and there are ways to treat it. Go find a sports medicine doctor right away!

Yeah it probably flat feet or fluid build up in your knees. Very knowledgeable in the areas of knee injuries as I have tore my ACL in both of my knees.
